    [August] What are you reading?

Has that hit US shelves yet? I've been waiting on it.

    [August] What are you reading?

I'm re-reading David Drakes "Hammers Slammers" series, and had forgotten how awsome they were. I'm also re-reading "The General" series by David Drake and SM Sterling (which, like Hammers Slammers, I havent read in years).

How do you travel with your minis?

I use Games Workshop mini carrying cases. three stacks of foam with squares cut out that will fit most standard minis. they also have a hard plastic shell that latches. Very good for both carrying and storing minis. the downside is that they are quite expensive now. I bought the ones I had...

How many humanoid species are cross-breedable in your campaign?

IMC Dwarves and Halflings can have children with few physical problems (Halflings are an offshoot of the modern dwarf as are gnomes) Humans and Elves can crossbreed, but the chances are quite slim. Yet given nearly 12k years its bound to happen sometime. Half-Elves do breed true, and are...

Is it wrong for NPCs to block a 'detect evil' check by a PC?

So an assasin who spends five years under cover, never performing an evil act as he waits for the command to kill his target, is good until he sticks his knife in the local lord?

    Grouping skills affect on rogues

I dont see a real reason to lower the number of skills that a rogue has... considering that a rogues skill selection is one of the classes highlights. enough skill points to max out two more skills would only enhance the classes versitility, and would not detract from the other classes.

    I'm an incompetent normal-magic DM--how do I fix it?

I am rather fond low magic adventures. I use classed NPCs as opposed to monsters with special abilities for most of my adventures (reserving full fleged monsters for special encounters). Using lots of monsters, in my experience, can lead to a "monster of the week" feel... That said, after...

    Wal-Magic, a question of assumptions

Firstly I should state that I do not use magic item stores IMC, magic items are quite often hard to come by. That being said... Rather then a Wal-Magic you could think of it as a very high end jewlery store, where a few display pieces give examples of what can be done but the real work is in...

At what level do you start your campaigns?

I'm strongly in the third lvl camp. This is largely due to the fagility of first lvl characters, and to the short amount of time spent at 1st and 2nd.

DM's, Do your PCs realize there are Bigger Fish?

My players are quite aware that they are not the "biggest fish in the sea". There are several organizations whos power surpasses what players could gather over the course of a campaign, and there are a few vastly powerful individuals that my PCs have yet to match

Should Campaign Settings include a metaplot?

I have to say, this is very true! No more "Teh world is ending oh-noes!!!" meta-plots

World of Warcraft killed our gaming group!

In my current group there are three people who play WoW (encluding mysefl) all of whom have lvl 60s. Most others at the table have played the game, or are at least familiar with it. No one has skiped a game due to raiding (I schedule my raids for thursday-friday night or sunday). We do make...

[Warhammer] Is Liber Chaotica Fluff or Crunch?

I have some of the old books where they were divided by deity, and they are pure fluff.

Should Campaign Settings include a metaplot?

I've never had a problem with a meta-plot, but then I've always seen it more as a guide to running a campaign in a particular setting. Sometimes meta-plots can go to far sometimes (such as with Rokugaun, where I doubt that any DM could keep up with the constantly shifting plot). As has been...

    Starship Troopers Music Question.

I greatly enjoyed Starship Troopers, and have owned a copy of the sound track. The soundtrack from Amazon shows the following 1. FED NET MARCH 2. KLENDATHU DROP 3. PUNISHMENT/ASTEROID GRAZING 4. TANGO URILLA 5. HOPPER CANYON 6. BUGS!! 7. DIZZY'S FUNERAL 8. DESTRUCTION OF ROGER YOUNG...
