Looking for a visually immersive campaign management tool

You may be waiting a loooooong time. They're extremely slow to add new features.

What Do You Want to See in the New John Carter Roleplaying Game?

That wouldn't be something that interests me, but I'm sure other people would find it useful.

What Do You Want to See in the New John Carter Roleplaying Game?

I have never had any interest in playing characters other people have created. I'm with some of the other posters here - do it with the sensibilities of the time period, not modern PC fearfulness. If it has a SJW vibe or a fear of showing nudity, I'm not interested. Then it becomes just...

That's very cool! Did you make your own, or repurpose old punch cards?

CITY OF BRASS Launches, Bringing You Web-Based Campaign Management

That's why I dropped Realm Works. Without an export feature of some kind, I won't subscribe to something like this. I have had far too many cases (in and out of the RPG world) of having data become unreachable after a company goes out of business or makes other changes. I'm not going to take...

    Hobby Stores Margins

It's a dead end, in most cases. Most FLGSs make the majority of their money on sales of Magic cards. Everything else is secondary. It's not because the owners want it to be that way - it's just the only thing that sells well enough these days in a brick-and-mortar game store setting to give...

Can anyone compare Realms Works and City of Brass for campaign management?

I haven't used City of Brass. I can't really recommend Realm Works. Most of the features they have been promising for a LONG time still haven't surfaced, their development pace is incredibly slow, you can't pull you data back out in any way (even just dumping it to PDFs or CSV files of any...

What's the best system for doing Star Trek?

These days I mostly go with d6 for most games. It's very flexible and adaptable to almost any style of play, action resolution (including combat) is quick and easy, and it's easy to extend it in any way you want (adding magic, superpowers, etc.).

Anybody like/play The World of Darkness?

I love the old/classic World of Darkness games, particularly Mage. I really don't care for the majority of the new WoD, though.

The Guardian on Reading RPGs: Why don’t RPG manuals count as books?

Who says they don't count as books?

How big is your RPG collection?

I have several hundred RPG books, most of which are separate systems, rather than lots of books all within the same few systems. A lot of it is very obscure stuff going back into the 70s, when I first started buying RPGs.

    Keeping a Group Together

I tell my players that the DM is God, before they ever agree to play in my campaign. That way I don't get nonsense like that from them.

Hasbro CEO: "D&D is Really on a Tear"

I have heard "on a tear" all my life. It's a very common idiom around here (Texas). Maybe it's a regional idiom.

FANTASY GROUNDS Virtual Tabletop's D&D License!

I'm not looking for a VTT option, but if I was, I would rule this out, based on price alone. I doubt they are at the magic balancing point where you get the maximum return from unit price versus total sales. I wish Smiteworks luck, and hope this turns out to be a good option for a lot of people.

Because the players aren't the ones running the game.

    D&D 5E (2014) Why I love 5E - the renewal of Theater of Mind

I'm not a big fan of miniatures, battlemats, etc. - they make it feel too much like a wargame to me. I prefer the "theater of the mind" approach to rpgs, both as a GM/DM and a player. The only reason I play Pathfinder is that it's hard to find people who want to play anything else in this area.

Pathfinder 1E Advice for way of the wicked?

I have been a player in a Way of the Wicked campaign for several months now, and am really enjoying it. More so than many other adventure paths, though, you need to make sure that the players understand that they need to play smart. It's very easy to die in this campaign if they don't...

D&D 5E (2014) What do you want from an NPC list?

If I were going to use NPCs other people had created (I don't), I would want a picture, a name, and some information on the personality. I would fill in the rest if needed.

    D&D 5E (2014) The 5E Art is Awesome

Just to be clear, I'm talking about tabletop RPGs, not other types of games. As someone already mentioned, there are likely to be large differences in the relative percentages of women who play various types of game. The video game market, for example, has a pretty big percentage of female...
