I started with the Moldvay set, then quickly moves on to AD&D. If I recall, I liked the change, primarily because of the additional character options.

I have never had any difficulties removing or adding rules, no matter what the system. It's not that tough, even with rules that seem to be integral to the system.

I downloaded the Basic Rules, and have been going through them. So far I haven't seen anything that makes me want to add 5e to the list of games I DM or play, but I'm reserving judgement until we see the final product (PHB and DMG). I'll evaluate them at that point and see if I'm interested.

That was a very interesting essay. I have never liked the D&D style of magic (call it what you will), which is why I never play magic users in that system. To date, the only rpg magic system that I really like is oWoD Mage.

No, I meant that as a DM, I don't care what the rules "empower" me to do or not. I do what I think is best, regardless of what the rules say.

I just discovered "Black Tokyo," and am enjoying reading the main game and supplements.
