Spoilers Star Trek: Strange New Worlds - Season 3 Viewing (Spoilers)

Speaking of ancient technology, Pelia's collection puts Kivas Fajo's to shame, lol.

D&D 5E (2014) Dispel Evil and Good cleric spell 5th level in use

So what, anytime it is dramatically appropriate, we should just pretend the D&D magic system doesn't exist? "Yeah, uh, it's really important that you can't interact with this plot point in any way until it's dramatically appropriate, and I don't know why you'd want to, that can't possibly be...

D&D 5E (2014) Dispel Evil and Good cleric spell 5th level in use

Sure but ok, how many spell slots can the player actually come up with here? D&D magic is magic bullets fired from a gun. And often, there are situations that only have magical solutions- I'm not saying that's great design, but that's just how the game is. You ask a character to end...

    D&D 5E (2024) Why doesn't the Tarrasque have Regen?

The original was unique, until Spelljammer revealed there was a whole planet of them, where they rule the surface, and the underground is ruled by Mind Flayers. Because of course there is.

D&D 5E (2014) Dispel Evil and Good cleric spell 5th level in use

Magic Missile is the most obvious, but there's also Heat Metal, Cloud of Daggers, and Reverse Gravity. Oh and I guess I should mention Immovable Object, as it's actually an offensive touch spell with no save.

D&D 5E (2014) Dispel Evil and Good cleric spell 5th level in use

Just a question- what do you feel about ranged offensive spells that don't require attack rolls/saves? Is there something inherent about "touch" that you think would make it easier to avoid a spell effect? Because the way I see it, shooting someone with an arrow should be harder than punching...

    D&D 5E (2024) Why doesn't the Tarrasque have Regen?

A lot of time it does feel like a creature with regeneration should have just had more hit points- either the creature goes down quick and the regen barely matters, the regen is shut off and barely matters, or the combat drags out because the party lacks the tools to deal with regen effectively...

D&D 5E (2014) Dispel Evil and Good cleric spell 5th level in use

For example, look at Bestow Curse. It has a range of Touch, but there is no attack roll- only that the target make a Wisdom save. Being able to avoid it is simply not an option as it's not a Dex save (and the Dodge action would affect it). See also Contagion or Inflict Wounds. Now you can...

Spoilers Star Trek: Strange New Worlds - Season 3 Viewing (Spoilers)

I guess what you could do is build intelligent androids that can repair themselves (and each other). Ruk, the android from "What Little Girl's Are Made Of?" was 500,000 years old and still ticking until Not!Korby took him out with a phaser blast. And he had access to the technology to make...

What videogames are you playing in 2025?

Anything has to be better than Star Ocean 2: The Second Story. I still hear "Tear into Pieces!" and Opera's banshee screams in my dreams (nightmares?).

Spoilers Star Trek: Strange New Worlds - Season 3 Viewing (Spoilers)

Yeah, I think our record is 11,000 years, with Gobekli Tepe (or 12,000 in the case of Boncuklu Tarla), though admittedly, the site isn't in pristine condition.

What videogames are you playing in 2025?

Recently discovered Crystal Project, a fun mix of old-school turn-based RPG's with Metroidvania-esque exploration. Barebones story, sadly, but a lot of fun, especially with lots of options to vary up the game play. I'm waiting patiently for the expansion to Grim Dawn, so I can get my play...

D&D 3.x Mike Selinker about the release of 3.0 D&D

I was working at my local Taco Bell at the time. My friend RJ came in to show off the new book and all the cool stuff in it. So many things that had turned me away from 2e had been rectified! It was a whole new game! Mind you, it took awhile to realize that some stuff didn't work right...

D&D 5E (2014) Dispel Evil and Good cleric spell 5th level in use

I don't believe the "break enchantment" version of Dispel Evil can be considered an offensive spell, since all it does is end an effect. It's the "Dismissal" version that is offensive in nature and does require a melee spell attack.

D&D 5E (2014) Dispel Evil and Good cleric spell 5th level in use

Worth noting that readying a spell is super risky as you have to maintain concentration and the spell is lost if you can't use it as intended.

Spoilers Star Trek: Strange New Worlds - Season 3 Viewing (Spoilers)

Ancient tech in the Trek universe is built to last! There's lots of examples, the Guardian of Forever, the Doomsday Machine, The Oracle (TOS: "For the World is Hollow and I Have Touched the Sky"), Portal 63 (the Tkon guardian from TNG: "The Last Outpost", at least 60 thousand years old!), The...
