    [Oct] What Are You Reading?

Still on George R. R. Martin's A Game of Thrones. Started it late last month and haven't had ample time to finish it. I'll try to read another 50ish pages tonight. I'm pressed for time these days. I should be reading it right now, actually.... :p

    Animal Planet: Dragons

WHAT!? ohhh I had no idea this even existed. I've seen a few of these animal planet specials that are sort of like "what if..." scenarios. I hope to catch the dragon one sometime :) Gotta flip through my direcTV and see when it airs again.

    [Sept] What Are You Reading?

After countless posts full of positive fervor regarding GRRM's A Song of Ice And Fire series, I picked up the first two in hardcover. I'm working my way through A Game of Thrones (but am withholding commentary until I'm finished!) I will say that I'm hooked enough to order the third one already...

DMGenie - Masters of the Djinn Yahoo Group missing

Well kingpaul there are plenty of questions you pose here that I'd not mind answering in another context (in fact I started writing a pretty lengthly answer before changing my mind) but it feels like you are baiting the conversation. To what end? I couldn't be bothered. All I'm interested in is...

DMGenie - Masters of the Djinn Yahoo Group missing

Hi paul. If people are going to steal or wish to be maliciuos, there is no way to totally prevent that. We see it with regards to movies, music, computer software and games all the time. The best one can do is try to prevent it in a reasonable way that doesn't negatively effect legitimate users...

DMGenie - Masters of the Djinn Yahoo Group missing

"WOTC wants to sell game material, not see it freely distributed in a way that bypasses the purchasing of the books as well." The zip/rar files are passworded and require knowledge that only someone who possesses the book could know (like words on certain pages). Maybe not the most secure way...

    Blogs.

I love blogs. :) If you really are so clueless about them, here is a good place to start: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blog Blogger is quite popular but I haven't used it much. I use Livejournal though. www.livejournal.com And yes on livejournal you can set it to where only select people can...

    "Lost" movie in the works

I maintain that I feel the movie is great. But the later comment, about it being one of Lynch's best works, is just the consensus I've gathered from lynch discussion sites over the years. This stance is also supported by wikipedia's entry on Twin Peaks, if you feel it holds weight. But feel free...

    RPGXPlorer - anyone tried it?

Raevynn: it requires the .NET Framework. The developers here may have expanded advice, but to my knowledge you have two options on your Mac. Run this program through Virtual PC or try "Mono" (a .net framework alternative for non-Windows operating systems) http://www.mono-project.com/Main_Page

    "Lost" movie in the works

Hmm. Well, I like the idea. I mean, the Twin Peaks movie (Fire Walk with Me) is great. It was not well received when it first came out, but now stands as one of David Lynch's greatest works. I think having the movie be the "end" of the story would work great. but if it is a story that takes...

Do you use a computer program (such as DM Genie)? (poll)

MS Word and (rarely) Excel. I also have Publisher and some of the other Office apps but haven't utilized them for my game so far. I'm considering using Publisher to create a 1 page newspaper for a city my players are visiting soon. I've recently been playing with DM Genie and I can easily see...

    Is E-Tools worth it?

Hi. Actually, in the exact order and execution that you described it, I think it would be perfectly fine. I am not saying it is legal, just that it is not immoral and is not abusing my rights of ownership. Just my opinion. Now, if I scanned it and gave it away to people who did not purchase the...

    Is E-Tools worth it?

After reading the discussion here, I'm going to give DM Genie a try. I love PCGen and I think eTools is a flawed yet feature-full product (can't wait for CMP's next tool! looks great) but for now, after seeing the screenshots, DM Genie looks right up my alley. I can't for the life of me see the...

    Is E-Tools worth it?

What I don't like about eTools is that, from what I can tell by the way their store is setup, you MUST buy the 3.0 dataset (as it is part of the eTools "core" product) and the 3.5e dataset is a seperate product which costs extra. I would prefer to just buy eTools bundled with the 3.5 dataset...

    Dial-Up Connection Speed

Canada is the most wired country in the world. It won't be long before it gets to his area, I'm sure. Even the smallest towns here in Missouri I've been to have some form of broadband available (discounting sattelite, which I agree is insanely overpriced and unreliable)

What shows got canceled before they had a chance....

Lots of great shows mentioned here. My vote goes for Freaks & Geeks. And maybe My So-Called Life

    Dial-Up Connection Speed

NetZero, PeoplePC and several other dialup providers do offer super-speed dialup connections that supposedly increase the loading time of pages, but cheap DSL is only slightly higher than these technologies and will give speed increases which are many times over what ANY dialup connection will...

    DMG 2: yay or nay

$40? Get it on amazon. :) I love it. Even the complete "fluff" like the Saltmarsh section is full of useful goodies. By the way... looks like we're getting a Player's Handbook II in May 2006. Someone posted the amazon.com link at the WotC forums.

    MozMapEditor preview

I'm an avid reader of the Mozilla Blogging Project and noticed this post today regarding new map making software based off the Mozilla codebase. It is designed to create maps as SVG (scalable vector graphics) images. http://blog.sexylizard.org/?2005/08/09/9-mozmapeditor-svg-powered They...
