    D&D 5E (2014) L&L: new playtest packet 10/15, Druid update

Yes and no. Both Wildshape and Mage Armor change the way your AC is calculated. Wildshape sets it to a certain number, Mage Armor to 13 + DEX. So... If Mage Armor was casted first, then Wildshape, one would have the Beasts AC. If Wildshape happened first then Mage Armor, one would calculate...

    AD&D 2E Room in 5e for 2e-style multiclassing?

The problem with explicitely using XP is that - well - you have to use XP. With the current rules you can drop the XP chart and level up whenever. Apparently that is what many groups do. Personally, I'm not sure that it's a problem to alternate your progression between two classes. Maybe there...

D&D 5E (2014) Skills - Does anyone actually like the way they're headed?

I think, the question is how you imagine the characters. Are they rather usual individuals with a few special tricks, or are they overall kick-ass heroes? A system with smaller differences in competence points to the latter. Another question is how you transform the results into a narrative...

D&D 5E (2014) Q&A: Mage Cantrips, Multiclass req., and the Psion

Come on guys, you don't need to explain your reasoning behind ability score requirements. Give us the poll and we will gladly vote them to hell.

D&D 5E (2014) Wandering Monsters: You Got Science in My Fantasy!

Of course, eodraco is not from Latin, but Greek. Latin word for dawn is not eos but aurora.

    D&D 5E (2014) Paladin Oaths don't do enough.

Vengeance's aura could be a kind of You Won't Get Away debuff. Fits the old Avenger.

D&D 5E (2014) DnD Next - how is the damage and AC scaling? Combat questions

Of course, there is no reason to just use a long sword. One would either use a second weapon or a shield. But that was the case before. Cantrips do deal more damage, as the character levels up. Feats on the other hand do not help damage very much. Most increases are somewhere in the classes...

    D&D 5E (2014) D&D Q&A: 09/27/2013

That's a great idea. It also helps when you have truly different characters, like when a player wants cat folk and there is no time to make it up.

    D&D 5E (2014) Druids and shape changing – I don't like it!!

It's second level at the moment. Although that isn't high level either. But it doesn't really matter either way. Write a Nature Domain for the Cleric and call it Druid.

D&D 5E (2014) What spells are not Scalable and should be?

Nice idea, although I think, spell slot is not really the limiting factor in this case. The slot is not blocked while the familiar serves you, as it is with Animate Dead. You just cast it once. The cost therefore is knowing the spell and spending the 100 gp. So in order to "find" a more powerful...

    D&D 5E (2014) Kender are a core race?

I just don't see the point. It's all just people with latex pieces on the face. If someone comes along to play that Kitsune ninja in an egyption themed game? - Oh, so you're an assassin in service Bastet? How cool is that. But I usually wouldn't even go that far. That's only looks. Campaign...

    D&D 5E (2014) Interaction rules

My problem with the current approach is the DCs are static. With a 20 you can influence anyone within the bounds of the column, no matter if it is an impressible troll or a shrewd great dragon. Some spells would be better if they said more explicitely how they interact with it. For example, it...

D&D 5E (2014) New D&D Next Playtest package is up (19/9/2013) [merged threads]

I'm not sure what you're saying. You only have one proficiency bonus for everything you are proficient with. That bonus is form your total level, so no matter where you got proficiency with STR Saving Throws from, your bonus will be +6 at level 19.

D&D 5E (2014) Ability Score Requeriments for Multiclassing, yay or nay?

But that's all because the other rules in 3e. Archers need STR for damage. Not so in 5e. Finesse weapons were a bad idea for fighters. In 5e they are quite useful. Caster got bonus slots from high stat and needed the stat to cast at all. In 5e you can play a cleric with Wisdom 8, unless you want...

D&D 5E (2014) New D&D Next Playtest package is up (19/9/2013) [merged threads]

This is a very different kind of statement. It is about - what they call - realism. It wouldn't be realistic, if it were different. (Of course, it doesn't even fit the game own precepts, as I noted for Dex based fighters.) Remalithis on the other hand argued that the prerequisites were meant to...
