Elon Musk Calls for Wizards of the Coast to "Burn in Hell" Over Making of Original D&D Passages

Culture War isn't a real thing. It's portraying tolerance and intolerance as two "equal sides" and that's just not how it works. There is no war. There are people who are intolerant. That's it.

Elon Musk Calls for Wizards of the Coast to "Burn in Hell" Over Making of Original D&D Passages

"Culture War" is one of those terms that should make you stop and consider if you're actually writing about your own opinions and thoughts, or just repeating the ideas of others.

Elon Musk Calls for Wizards of the Coast to "Burn in Hell" Over Making of Original D&D Passages

I suspect, unfortunately, it's also part of an effort to keep American history associated with a certain kind of person. The founding fathers, the father of rock and roll, the father of D&D... All these people tend to fit into a certain category of human being. And when you look at the true...

Elon Musk Calls for Wizards of the Coast to "Burn in Hell" Over Making of Original D&D Passages

Come on, man. Nobody is saying Gygax is a monster. They're saying he's sexist. If Gygax gave quotes that were sexist, wrote material that was sexist, and called himself a sexist, that's three very legitimate pieces of evidence to consider. If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, and says...

GMing: What If We Say "Yes" To Everything?

I remember having an issue with this when I was playing the Dresden RPG. It ran on the FATE system. It was a while back, so my memory isn't 100%, but there was a way to spend Action Points to add features / truths to the campaign world. In the Dresden Files lore, undead can't cross moving...

    RPGs for 7 - 9 players

Hi all, I'm planning a big trip with a bunch of gaming friends. We can obviously split into two groups to play D&D or other games, but I wanted to gather some ideas for RPGs that work well for 7 - 9 players. I do not think 5e, 4e, or 3e D&D or Pathfinder belong on this list. In my experience...

GMing: What If We Say "Yes" To Everything?

But that's breaking your rule! What will the always yes DM say to "Can I beat this puzzle?"

GMing: What If We Say "Yes" To Everything?

I think the challenging aspect of this premise is that "Yes" can mean different things, depending on the context. In terms of character creation, saying "Yes" sets up the themes and characteristics of the setting. Can I play a half-giant? Are there firearms in this campaign? Can I start at 3rd...

    nevermind

Honestly a large part of me wonders if we are any better now than we were as hunter gatherers. Sure, the individual life lasts longer and we don't die of simple infections. But look at the proportion of humanity living in poverty, without access to water and food. We've made summers hotter and...

I'd freeze humanity at the hunting / gathering phase. Farming was probably a mistake.

Planning a 3-Night RPG (and hiking) getaway (recommendations needed!)

It'll be February, so shorter days. Weather on the California coast could be perfect or rainy. But I think 4 hour games are a perfect idea.

Planning a 3-Night RPG (and hiking) getaway (recommendations needed!)

Hey all! This February I'm renting a cabin near the redwoods in Northern California and a bunch of my old gaming buddies and I are reuniting for a three-night get together. The plan is to hike during the day and play TTRPGs at night. It looks like, depending on the day, we will have between 6...

D&D General Powering Up and Delayed Actions

I think to make this work, the dragon's "Inhale" action also needs to have an effect. Maybe it knocks over opponents (making it more difficult for them to escape), maybe it launched them into the air with no Attacks of Opportunity, maybe it increases magic "static" so that spellcasters have to...

GMs - Do you get bored when you're a player?

Yes, absolutely! I always need something extra to manage when I'm a player. I'll ask to run initiative, keep track of group treasure, run some NPCs, etc. I'm usually also doodling what's happening in the game or taking notes.

Chris Perkins and James Wyatt Answer Burning Questions About the 2024 Dungeon Master's Guide

I really don't think the game is built around an Adventuring Day. Characters do have resources that refresh on a long rest, but DMs are extremely limited in enforcing when or how often characters take long rests.
