Play The Twilight Of Your Adventures In Stewpot

This would be a great way to launch a campaign! Play a few weeks building up the tavern, the nearby dungeon and town, doing some world building. Then roll up some new adventuring characters who meet up in the tavern for their first quest!

    D&D 5E (2024) Spicy combat

This tip isn't necessarily for making combat any more dangerous, but I find it increases the narrative tension: Don't have an enemy attack unless they have advantage. Make them jump up onto higher ground, or flank (if you use the rule), or knock a character down. If they can't get advantage...

Recommend some Solarpunk or Hopepunk books for my book club!

I'm in a Science Fiction and Fantasy book club. The last few books we read happened to be pretty depressing, and so I'm looking for a way to switch things up. I have always been curious about Solarpunk and other adjacent, more hopeful sci fi, but I know little about the actual books in the...

"Promising hints of life on distant planet"

This is why we need to start training brittlecone pines for space exploration!

    (rant) Exhausting brain fog replies

David Foster Wallace gave a memorable speech in which he said we should basically do this same thing when we see people acting in a way that we find upsetting. Try to come up with an empathetic reason that someone is, say, driving too slow on the highway, or cut in front of the checkout line, or...

What Mundane Details Are Important In Your Fantastical Game/World?

Thinking more on this, a lot of the times for a new area of the campaign world I'll come up with a theme and then make a big list of mundane details that support the big idea. So for example if this area is under constant threat of undead and home to a fledgling church of light, I might make a...

What Mundane Details Are Important In Your Fantastical Game/World?

Oh I love this topic! I leave a lot of my worlds as blank spaces on the map, and the lore tends to build organically based on what characters explore and what they're interested in. But small details definitely make the world seem more lived-in and can lead to higher player engagement. When...

D&D 5E (2024) WotC Unveils Dragon Delves' Eclectic Art Styles

In this case you would have to call them Draconic Red Draconic Blue Etc. The problem is that the term "draconic" is modifying the noun Red. A "Red" is not a creature as defined in D&D. You could create a monster book based around colors being kinds of monsters, which would be interesting...

WotC Would you buy WotC products produced or enhanced with AI?

This is now completely off topic, but it's something I think about a lot! I love to write stories... If no one ever reads them have I actually created art? If Van Gogh's paintings never reached public appreciation, would he have still been a genius artist? It's an interesting thought experiment...

WotC Would you buy WotC products produced or enhanced with AI?

But in terms of the data we can actually use in this discussion, it's really the only valid numbers we have. We can ask all sorts of rhetorical questions or go questing into possible futures, but the whole point of this thread is to see if this specific population would purchase AI art from WotC.

WotC Would you buy WotC products produced or enhanced with AI?

Oh I completely agree that the witnessing of art is as important as the production of it and has its own, separate, value. However in the discussion of AI, it's those who create art who are being devalued, not the consumers.

WotC Would you buy WotC products produced or enhanced with AI?

It's a small sample size about a very specific hobby, but the poll in the OP currently shows about 75% or participants would not support products by WotC that are generated with AI.

WotC Would you buy WotC products produced or enhanced with AI?

Here are some weird things AI could never make: Sure you could type a million prompts into AI, you could ask it to recreate something in the style of X or in the voice of Y, but the reason AI could never create it is because all these are creations based on the lived experiences...
