So, you all meet in a bar and decide to start adventuring together...

Your subject line actually got me thinking about a twist on the traditional "you all meet in a bar." Over the years I've spent some time in bars, particularly during college, and I've met numerous people in these bars. During my many hours I have heard the words "Hey, we should go do . . ."...

The difficulties of finding a game

I have the uneviable honor of being unable to find a group. First and foremost for me is the difficulty in locating players, overcoming the other obstacles mentioned would be a welcome challenge. I moved from Boise, where there is a relatively healthy gaming community, to rural Idaho where I...

Looking for a good mapping program.

I'll second that. I used to use Campaign Cartographer and have a number of their supplements, but I found the learning curve a bit steep, even with my relative familiarity with AutoCAD (which has some similiarities). AutoREALM is much easier to use, particularly for whipping up a simple...

    Age of Worms NOW RECRUITING

I am preparing to run an Age of Worms PbP campaign with some friends and I have some openings available. Now before everyone jumps in an posts characters you need to know some things first. 1) This campaign is taking place in the homebrew campaign world of Terra Viejo. While many mechanics...

    D&D - historical or fantastic?

I voted just low of middle ground. The campaign world I play in (see .sig) is loosely based on Earth so I use a great deal of historical material. However, fantasy aspects are, IMHO, well integrated into that historical context.

    This DM takes requests!

I'd have to say I would love to play in a Shackled City adventure or Rappan Athuk. Of course, I'd also enjoy a shot at the Temple of Elemental Evil. I'd even vote for Age of Worms, but I'm starting a PbP of that one with some friends, so I think the thrill is gone for me there.

    miniatures storage .

I use those clear plastic tackle box inserts to store mine. While it's not as good as one of those boxes designed to actually carry mini's, it is cheaper and I like being able to just look through the top and see everything without opening it up. If I remember right, and it's been awhile...

    Burley/Twin Falls, Idaho area gamers

I do have Jordan's - jorloo@hotmail.com As for game stores: Hobbytown at the Cole & Ustick intersection in Boise has a pretty good selection of stuff, though I wouldn't exactly call them a game store. However, I do know a couple of the employees are gamers. Dark Horse Games, it used to be...

    Burley/Twin Falls, Idaho area gamers

Yeah, as far as I know they are still around. Though I know that the present location for their game is moving this weekend. Jordan Looze, is the ringleader, though I couldn't tell you how to get in contact with him (as I said they are moving). Another contact is a guy by the name of Adam...

    Burley/Twin Falls, Idaho area gamers

Yeah, I used to live in Meridian and had a really good group of guys up there. Now I really, really miss getting together with them every week. Oh well, that's life. I'm hoping I don't have to resort to major road trips just to game.

    Burley/Twin Falls, Idaho area gamers

I'm an exiled gamer currently living just outside Burley Idaho and I am in search of fellow gamers. While ideally I'd like to find a group in the Burley area, I am a realist and know that my chances are slim. However, I'm desperate to find a face-to-face game, so I'm willing to consider...

What do Enworlders do in real life?

Irrigation Operations Basically I make sure farmers get irrigation water when they need it and that the delivery system (canals) are in working condition.

Excited to Die: Do you keep backup characters?

I usually have an idea or two floating around in my head while playing. I didn't used to actually create a backup character until I started playing in a particularly lethal Ravenloft campaign. The party had gone through a number of characters already (mostly wizards) and as the primary fighter...

Exiled Gamer in South Idaho (Burley/Twin Falls)

I've accepted self-imposed exile to southern Idaho and after spending a year here I am now in serious need of a face-to-face gaming fix. I live in the Burley area (Paul for any who actually know the area) but have resigned myself to the fact that there are likely few or no gamers locally. So I...

Just got my Dragon Compendium - Pretty!

This is good to hear. While I was disappointed that the content was relatively recent, it is nice to have it in a single location, particularly the new feats. I do hope there are future volumes, as I love Dragon and really like the idea of having some of the older material updated. Of course...

Just got my Dragon Compendium - Pretty!

Yeah, for non-subscribers it actually is a pretty good resource. It's also a good resource for those who may not have access to thier entire Dragon collection during play (if you are actually using something from the Compendium). I suppose, like Morgenstern, I would have liked to see a...

Abstract Wealth Systems - yes or no?

In my PbP games I prefer the abstract Wealth system of d20 Modern. I personally think it makes things move much smoother, of course as GM I'm handling all the mechanics so tracking finances is just a hassle I don't want to deal with. I'm just now implementing it in my fantasy game (slowly...

Just got my Dragon Compendium - Pretty!

I too just got it and I'm not overly impressed. 30 years of material to pull from and I get this. Most of the stuff included isn't even 5 years old. I wanted to see old stuff converted to 3.5, converting original 3.0 material isn't all that difficult and as it stands I have all those issues...

Star Wars And the Torg Drama Deck

I too loved using the Drama deck, though I haven't had a chance to integrate them into my games (yet). I'd like to say I have a pdf of them, unfortunately I don't. I suppose I should create one though, as I have the Torg deck, 2 Shatterzone decks and a MasterDeck. Now if I can just find the time.

How much do you plan your characters?

I voted for letting my character grow organically, though that's really just a side effect of me being lazy. Depending on the character I may plan a feat or two in advance, but that is subject to change as I grow into the character and the campaign.
