it's been my go to rules system for horror games of all sorts for decades, now, and i haven't used anything from the 'mythos' in most of that time (and we just switch 'sanity' for whatever is most setting appropriate.)

there's a few here that i was unaware of! (and i remember seeing 'nightlife' and being fascinated by it, at the time, but never grabbed it so i might have to start looking.)

i DESPERATELY wish there were a print version of this.

with food, i usually cook dinner for the table but folks chip in with ingredients. as to the games, themselves, i generally try to have at least one copy of whatever rules set we're using for the table (the cost of which is usually split by the players) and a bowl full of dice but folks still...

looking through my old copy of the 'chill' rulebook and remembering how much affection i have for it (even with its flaws) has led me to wonder: what horror rpgs have you loved that aren't explicitly derived from hpl and company or 'world/chronicles of darkness?'

i'm still not even close to convinced that lanasa ever intended to release ANY product and was pretty much just going the ip troll route because he thought he could win big.

i think it's likely that he either a) forgot entirely about the paying cards or b) sees them as something different than what's stipulated. (and while he would be largely correct in thinking that the cards are not part of what's being described as 'THE star frontiers: new genesis' product, he...

the 'win' will simply be preventing situations like this from happening in the future.

i've seen a number of highly successful kickstarter campaigns fail to deliver due to ridiculous amounts of stretch goals (the costs of which weren't fully taken into account when the campaign started) with some even ending up with, not just no product delivered, but bankruptcy and folks REALLY...

eh, i honestly don't see these people having any real effect on the way most folks generally view the osr (if anything, it just reminds people that games like 'dungeon crawl classics,' 'troika!,' 'mork borg,' and 'old school essentials' have really decent communities around them.)
