TSR The Full & Glorious History of NuTSR

good lord, these people are so exhausting and i honestly can't wait until this is all over and i never have to hear the names 'lanasa' and 'gygax,' again.

    'shadowrun' to 'cyberpunk red' conversion?

ah, i think that is the one, thank you!

Too Much Effort to Make New Characters?

to be clear- it's not about judging them, it's about being incompatible (although you are absolutely correct in that it comes across that way and i should have phrased it less antagonistically and, rather, made it clear that the game they want to play and the game i want to play are simply not...

Commentary thread for that “Describe your game in five words” thread.

'they ate a district attorney.' a game of 'vampire' 5e in which all the players are thinbloods and have no idea what they're doing and they wanted to turn a district attorney to help them with a harebrained scheme and they simply drained him, instead, by accident.

best 'shadowrun' supplements before 6e for fluff?

i do love 'universal brotherhood' (i'm a sucker for insect spirit stuff) but haven't looked much at adventures and will rectify that.

Too Much Effort to Make New Characters?

i would end the game, then and there, and wish everyone the best before finding a group that actually wanted to play.

oh, thanks! i've been eying 'bug city' for a while but 'sprawl sites' was barely on my radar and i think i might need to grab it, soon.

    'shadowrun' to 'cyberpunk red' conversion?

a while back, i stumbled on a thread (either here or on rpg.net) that dealt with converting 'shadowrun' to the 'cyberpunk red' system, does anyone have a link to either the thread in question or the website that the conversion info was on?

best 'shadowrun' supplements before 6e for fluff?

so i've recently started getting most of the 6e 'shadowrun' stuff and i'm curious as to what previous edition books folks see as worth picking up to better understand the history and culture of the game (outside of the 'sixth world almanac' from fourth edition.) (and pls no X EDITION WAS BETTER...

TSR The Full & Glorious History of NuTSR

that dude will literally do ANYTHING other than actually releasing any product. (also! that 'rating' bit is, i'm certain, something that he thinks will further water down hasbro's argument but it's going to do exactly the opposite and show to be even more of a bad actor than ever.)

    Games with "terrible" follow-up editions

because that's the version of the lore that my group is familiar with and wants to use (we've been using the 6e rules, so far, but they're honestly such a mess that we voted unanimously to switch to a different system if we could come up with one that works with the current lore.)

    Games with "terrible" follow-up editions

i would generally agree with that (although i think it worked FAR better for 'star wars' than 'call of cthulhu.') also! as 'shadowrun' has come up, so many times, has anyone had any experience porting the 6th ed stuff to a different system?

What do you think about The World of Darkness

i really like the 5th edition of 'vampire' (and find it the most playable) but i think that 'geist' and 'changeling: the lost' are honestly some of the best work they've done (and i have to say that the new 'ghost hunters' book for 'owod' is pretty fantastic.)

    Games with "terrible" follow-up editions

'ars magica' 4e was one of the most confoundingly messy rules sustems i've ever seen (i do quite like 5e, though.)

What do you think about Powered by the Apocalypse games?

i've only played 'bluebeard's bride' and the new edition of 'kult' and loved both (but i can see the basic mechanics not working for a lot of settings/ideas and think it would be difficult to run any real longterm campaign.)

D&D General How do players feel about DM fudging?

my gaming groups are built around notions of trust so i generally see it as very bad.

M.A.R. Barker, author of Tekumel, also author of Neo-Nazi book?

in the mid 90s, when i first started seriously getting into political theory and, in particular, antifascism, i made it a point to explore as much contemporary fascist work as i could to get a better understanding of what i was up against, so, having actually read the book, let me assure you- it...

D&D General D&D without Death. Is it possible? (+)

two of the best 'd&d' games i ever played were almost entirely without combat (one of them having a single duel to first blood and the other a boxing match between one of the players and a small time criminal.)
