    [Way OT] A Touching Story

I agree with Snofox. I find it hard to laugh at a joke that takes advantage of people who are disadvantaged.

Why can't my Wizard take the Use Magic Device skill?

I agree, I just can't see a wizened old wizard pushing a button on a stick while saying "Hmm... I wonder what this does." This is essentially what Use Magic Device is, experimenting with items until you get magic. Kind of like randomly connecting wires, sometimes you get the right things...

    Whirlwind and Cleave?

    Where does it say this?

A kingdon without magic can survive in a war against a magical one?

Limit material components, or have the humans do it. Have human rogues sneak into mage tents and steal their spellbooks and/or components. Torch them all. Magic has a hard time detecting mundane practices such as a rogue hiding, so send all the rogues you have at them. Sabatage magical...

To Paladin players, what Feats do you select for your Paladins?

Only if you have means to haste yourself, in which case you aren't even using Spring Attack.

    In 8 hours of gaming...

I would say anywhere from 1-30 minutes a session. It really depends, but it is usually kept to a minimum. I know the rules pretty much front to back, or I at least know where to find them. The other three people in my group also have decent knowledge of hte rules, so they are also there. We...

Can't touch the PCs! What's a DM to Do?

I don't want you to kill the party. That's too harsh, in my opinion, because I feel the mistake is mostly yours (not all, but a good bit). I can't tell for sure, but that's the way it seems. Now, I'm not going to play the blame game, I'm just pointing out that your players might get upset if...

    cost of spells

Don't forget that you pay for material components, and 1/10 the cost of the focus.

Let's fix Armor of Speed without turning it into Boots of Speed...

I was not so much miffed by the armor bonus, though that was part of it. Most of it was an extra partial action, for every 6 seconds, of every second that you wear the armor. It's like an infinite haste, and seeing as how haste is only one round a level, that's saying something. It's...

    Everquest Suicide and Lawsuit

Good example this weekend after the NCAA championships. Oh yeah, and have you heard the one about a bunch of obese people filing lawsuits against fast food chains because they made them fat? Figured I would mention that one, while we are on the topic of non-responsibility.

Pyro, Alchemist's Fire, and a Rogue...

I would consider saying that if you wanted to sneak attack with an alchemist's fire, you have to hit with a REGULAR roll instead of a touch attack. If you hit regularly, great, sneak attack damage (provided you meet hte conditions), if you get high enough for a touch attack hit, regular damage.

    LotR:FotR Academy Awards Part 2

Strange, I haven't heard of ONE person who liked Moulin Rouge. In fact, almost every single person who saw it (males and females) attributed it to torture.

    Glove of Storing too powerful?

My interpretation of the description is that it takes a command word to store things in the glove. Thus, a standard action, not a move equivelant. The wording is a little vague, unfortunately, but that is what I would rule.

    Expanding Coup De Grace?

Make that 6. Horrible idea. You would have dead PC's dropping from trees in no time. Initiative would be god. Improved initiative would be the most popular feat in your campaign. NOT having it would be stupid. Ambushes would pretty much instant kill a party before they could react.

    Wake while sleeping from battle

I thought that whie you were sleeping, you were effectively "taking 0" on your listen checks. Thus, the sound of combat would rouse anyone, but some other things wouldn't, depending on their listen check modifiers.

How do you handle Dead Players Equipment

My paladin usually buries the dead with his weapon and armor (where applicable), or at least donates them to a church of their deity (if a particularly pious character). However, our group shares a lot of items, and very few items that a character has are actually his, or he has a connection...

How do you handle Dead Players Equipment

Depends. We are currently suffering from the aforementioned 'Item Bloat', as we have had SEVEN (7) characters die so far. We are only level 4. A large majority of those have come from the Forge of Fury mission. Sometimes, we loss the stuff the character had. For example, my paladin was...

Do Darkvision and Low-light vision stack?

Here's an example. The character had Darkvision (60 feet) and low light vision. It's pitch black, so that character can see (black and white) within 60 feet. The character is holding a lit torch, so now he can see everything within 40 feet normally, and another 20 feet in black and white...

How do YOU use Power Attack?

Also, use Power Attack vs. low AC opponents. A good example is pretty much any animal or dire animal. Just last night, my fighter/paladin 2/2 (with help) was fighting 2 dire wolves. I used Power Attack to great effect, after realizing that I hit on a 14. My attack bonus is +9, so I often...

    Half Dragon PC question

Firelance is 100% correct. Also, I think a large amount of the confusion is springing off of the term "half-orc". In the original example, I think the fighter wanted to be a half-dragon/half half-orc. Thus, 50% dragon blood, 25% human blood, 25% orc blood. A dragon and a half-orc mating. A...
