What are the best spells for long-distance travel?

I would say Teleport, Greater beats all other forms of travel...

Regular Campaign Segues Into Tomb of Horrors!!!

SPOOOIILLEEERRRRSSS******************* I took my character level 16 players through tomb. A very large part of their success was first rescuing a scholar from White plume mountain to give them bit more information (They got a rhyme with hidden meanings for the spells that work on the...

    magic missle house rules?

Use Acid Orb, Lesser (or any of the four spells). 1st lvl spell, 5d8 damage, no save, no SR, does need ranged touch attack (can crit :)). From Miniature handbook. Imho better than MM. (Of course, needs archmage Mastery of Elements to change the energy at will)

    Miniatures Handbook

Few issues I have. Well, not really issues but toughts. 1) When I saw Favored Soul, I compared him right away with sorcerer. Well, sorcerer lost in about every abilty and with great difference. Only way to think sorcerer could be on par with FS is if you think arcane spells so very much better...

Can you Cleave after a Cup De' Grassey?

Thanks :). I printed your post for later reading and thinking. I personally thought GFBA to work as you say in the last paragraph. Announce, pick path and targets, roll attack, then move and resolve at each opponent/target. It seems to be working most 'logically'.

Can you Cleave after a Cup De' Grassey?

Great flyby attack feat (General) from Savage Species: Using this feat is a full-round action. When flying, you can move up to your fly speed in a straight line and attack a number of opponents equal to your Dexterity bonus. All targets must be within your reach along the line of your movement...

D&D 3.x How's 3.5 Harm working for you? (stirring mud from the river bottom)

Well, true. In normal circumstances, it is quite a sucky spell. What I was trying to say was that it is the best (?) spell to expand in power, IF you got the goods. Harm is max 150/75 damage. Thats it. Just the same if your caster is 15th or 45th level. On the other hand, with Polar ray it is...

Can you Cleave after a Cup De' Grassey?

Great flyby attack (as I recall it): GFBA is a full-round action. You make one attack roll and can hit an amount of targets equal to your dexterity modifier while flying in a straight path up to your maximum normal flight movement. The targets must be within your reach during the flyby. Use the...

Can you Cleave after a Cup De' Grassey?

Hypersmurf, what do you think about: Great Flyby Attack (SS p. 35) and Great Cleave together? If the flier has , for example, dex bonus 8 and hits and kills 6 targets in the flying path, can he make a cleave for each target that died and hit another 6 targets on the path (within reach at that...

D&D 3.x How's 3.5 Harm working for you? (stirring mud from the river bottom)

Polar ray works ok when it is empowered and maximized. And you only need either enough of Incantatrix, or 21st level with the feat for 10th level spells, or sudden empower. And Rod of Maximize, of course. Add few CL for PrC abilites and magic items and you got 150+12,5d6 non-saveable (probably...

    Spellsword - is it weak?

You mean Raumathari Battlemage? Yeah, it is a good class for mage/fighter wannabes. So is Eldritch knight. And maybe the new CW Spellsword too. The T&B spellsword is useless nowadays. I DM a campaign and one of my players is a fighter/mage. He is Outsider, so he has proficiency in all simple...

    D&D 3.x Half-celestial PCs: How does a 3.5 differ from a 3.0?

Celestial template takes all HD-based bonuses from real monster HDs, not from any kind of class levels. If you are celestial elf fighter 16, you only get the initial bonuses from the template. Nothing that comes with HD's. Half-celestial, on the other hand, uses class levels as well as HD to...

[MHB] +6 on all attributes for 200,000 ?

Using x2 for the rest is dumb. For the same price, you could put each ability into separate _slotless_ items and just keep them in your pocket. That is why 3.5 uses x1,5 for the rest of the abilties. (Or x2 the first and x1,5 for the rest, or just x2 for the first and normal price for the...

    Polymorphing outsiders and undead

Sheesh guys... Well, read the Lich-template from 3.5 MM. So if they can use polymorph effects on themselves (reads quite clearly there), I assume that the immunity can not be TOTAL immunity. Ie, they can somehow go through the immunity by themselves, which could imply that it is, after all...

Any experience with the new Disintegrate yet?

Use Rod of metamagic: Maximize. You can also empower it that way... Disintegrate is also funny spell now as you can make a critical with it :). Roll 4d6/lvl :P.

    Alter Self too powerful?

Fey'Ri , as far as I know, is considered a native outsider. That means if you are Fey'Ri, feel free to use outsiders (including demons and such) as your Alter Self material... (with the added benefit of free simple and martial weapon proficiencies that outsider type gives you)...

Weapon Familiarity: What's the Big Deal?

Like nobody else would look ridiculous at 15th+ level in antimagic field. I believe the shield (giving now AC +1 or +2, no magical bonuses) on the ground is not your primary concern when everybody is without 200k-760k of magical stuff

Ideal feat chain for a Druid?

I'm not sure if you are allowable to take the feats that help with your natural attacks. Dang, I'm not even sure what the name of the feat was. I think they are found in Monster manual 3.5 and probably MM 2 and maybe Savage Species. Anway, the first feat, Natural Attack lowered all your -5...

    Half dragons - underpowered?

Compare this to H-D, if you want... Half-Celestial (Without wings, as +3 ECL. With wings (official) +4 ECL): Type: native outsider -> Darkvision 60' -> Proficient in ALL simple and martial weapons -> Immune to all 'person' spells (hold/dominate etc) -> Still resurrectable Natural armour +1...

    Half dragons - underpowered?

IMC, I give my H-D player still the same perk as in 3.0ed. He can always raise his hitdice to one higher than the class he is in (Max d12). Ie, if he is a fighter, he gets d12 hit dice roll (d10->d12). As a wizard, he would have d6 hit dice roll. Thats the way I understood it in 3.0. They...
