Level Up (A5E) Warlock Archetype Curse scaling & Herald multiclassing

I was thinking about a simpler way to handle this that includes minor changes to the original wording (emphasis mine): "Instead, at the start of each of your turns you can expend [one] spell slot of 1st-level or higher to gain exertion points that go into a temporary exertion pool which lasts...

Level Up (A5E) Warlock Archetype Curse scaling & Herald multiclassing

I might be mistaken but if you're converting two(2) 3rd level Herald spell slots that would be +12 exertion. I left the comparison between short and long rests out because every table is different. I have been playing with 5e and now A5e for seven and one years respectively and have hardly ever...

Level Up (A5E) Let's make Dangerous Strikes good on a Fighter

For a Fighter build I think Dangerous Strikes has a place for a "switch hitter". To make that work we need available exertion for maneuvers that provide mobility and help with removing Opportunity Attacks. Off the top of my head: Start with "my build" - zero cost Dangerous Strikes; +4 damage...

Level Up (A5E) Warlock Archetype Curse scaling & Herald multiclassing

Interestingly enough, when I used more costly maneuvers (3 exertion) the more Herald spell slots become important in keeping up the the exertion demand. This means that the gap between the baseline (Herald9/Ftr1) and other combinations shrinks with the rising cost of of maneuvers. I was not...

Level Up (A5E) Let's make Dangerous Strikes good on a Fighter

@Stalker0 praises Stunning Assault when looking for the best Maneuver Specialization choice. Personally, I think on paper Stunning Assault is really good but the exertion cost keeps it in check - the condition is the problem because there aren't many ways to remove the condition. I didn't...

Level Up (A5E) Let's make Dangerous Strikes good on a Fighter

These lists have been pretty good for our table. Your input gave me a better way to evaluate what is good or not. I think it is harder when you're trying put onto a build which is what I am trying to do here with Dangerous Strikes. Can we make it good and not necessarily rework the maneuver...

Level Up (A5E) Let's make Dangerous Strikes good on a Fighter

Sorry it's not clear. The setup to make Dangerous Strikes good requires a feat. At zero exertion cost and applying 4 damage you've stated it is "OK". I'm happy with that. What I am asking is your perspective on how you came to that conclusion. I'm interested in what you're comparing it to...

Level Up (A5E) Let's make Dangerous Strikes good on a Fighter

Could you compare this to another ASI/feat choice where the outcome is better? I thought of the really strong Powerful Attacker feat as a comparison. If I had to choose, I would pick my Dangerous Attack setup instead of this feat because it can be used on ranged and melee attacks. This makes it...

That sounds like a Divine Smite type maneuver.

Level Up (A5E) Let's make Dangerous Strikes good on a Fighter

I had a little dig on the forums to find input for Dangerous Strikes and on the surface it doesn't appear promising. As @Stalker0 points out a few years ago: I tend to agree with this statement. @Kinematics also points out that it might be better on the Berserker given the secondary benefits...

Level Up (A5E) Sight & Targeting a Spell

Perhaps, "precise location" are for situations where you do not rely on sight to find a target and instead use another means to do so. In these situations (blind sense, eco-location, maybe smell, blind fighting) I would argue the a "line of sight" has been qualified (therefore, their precise...

Level Up (A5E) Warlock Archetype Curse scaling & Herald multiclassing

Why you do this to me tables? why. EDIT: I fixed it but damn. EDIT: Found calculation errors. Fixed. EDIT: Was adding Maneuver Specialization damage (+2) to build A and E accidently. Numbers are drastically different now.

Level Up (A5E) Warlock Archetype Curse scaling & Herald multiclassing

Ok, so I went and created five combinations using Herald/Fighter/Warlock so that I could discriminate real differences between them and determine whether the Warlock dip was significant. Figuring out how to do this was a challenge because I didn't know if focusing on the caster side of a Herald...

Level Up (A5E) Warlock Archetype Curse scaling & Herald multiclassing

A fighter1 dip is a "no-brainer" here, if you looking for increased power. This is why I said I didn't want to engage with it. I have been to level 15 twice in my years of playing DnD so thinking past this level requires more energy. I'll pass on that challenge for now and consider level 10...

Level Up Gateway Level Up Gateway May Dev Update

Hey, just tried multiclassing Herald/Fighter and everything tracks properly except: Maneuver Traditions - it didn't go past 2nd degree. A Herald7/Fighter3 should access to 3rd degree as if they were a 10th level fighter. Or, has this changed?

Level Up (A5E) Warlock Archetype Curse scaling & Herald multiclassing

It's all within A5e (AG only) so Hexblade is out (that class is just way too front loaded). Fighter is a strong pick but I wanted to discuss the merits of Warlock (Spellbinder) and whether there was a better option (other than fighter1). Rushing Herald 6th makes sense. Divine Smites are...

Level Up (A5E) Warlock Archetype Curse scaling & Herald multiclassing

Thank you. Great input. I was thinking about it in terms of a single dip for a Herald. A TWF Herald would make the best use of it especially one that that is using the Spellbinder's Curse and Protection-from-Good-and-Evil spell. This combination seems really solid for a short rest feature...

Level Up (A5E) Warlock Archetype Curse scaling & Herald multiclassing

While on topic, sort of, I was comparing the curse damage feature to Divine Favor. It seems quite strong in that it provides 1 minute, concentration free, Divine Favor, albeit for one target, with some extras and rechargeable on a short rest.

Level Up (A5E) Warlock Archetype Curse scaling & Herald multiclassing

Perfect. Thanks I'm trying to think of such wording in the AG and the only thing I can think of are features that scale with proficiency. Do cantrips work in the same way? ie., scale off the class which took the cantrip?
