Dawn of the Dead in DnD?

Wow, I've ready Parts 1 and 2 and I really like this book so far. Thanks a TON for the link! Something like this can really add to the game, and would give me some BBEGs rather than just plain zombies.

Dawn of the Dead in DnD?

Nice. Lore-wise, I'm gonna go with some of the suggestions you guys have given. The evil god I'd written about committing suicide closes off the way to the afterlife. While it's not "Hell is full", it goes about the same premise. Everything that dies does become the Living Dead, even if they...

Dawn of the Dead in DnD?

Thanks for the replies. I'm starting to like the "anything that dies, comes back" method. I also don't want to go totally low magic, but I don't want some Eberron/Forgotten Realms stuff either. I picture this Grand Crusade occurring against an evil god of death/undeath. The Crusaders and...

Dawn of the Dead in DnD?

After watching Dawn of the Dead a few times lately, I've begun to wonder: How could you do it in DnD? Zombies don't seem like much of a threat to PCs after a few levels. A few turn undeads will take care of things. At higher level, even moreso. Another thing is, how can the zombie-fication...

    Warmage - how balanced?

I found a warmage to be awesome fun whenever I played one. Our games were about 70% combat, 30% other stuff. Even during the role playing and clue sniffing, my guy was fun to play. He had enough Charisma that he could deal well with NPCs, even if he couldn't charm their pants off or bluff...

    Do you modify classes?

I like doing the following: 1. Bard and Paladin aren't core classes, but are PrC's from Unearthed Arcana. 2. I offer 2 different Rangers. The standard, and the one without spells who gets a druid-equiv. pet and a bonus feat every 4 levels (starting at 4). 3. I've changed Monk to Martial...

Why Should It Be Hard To Be A Paladin?

And that sounds like an awesome way to run a campaign. However, using the MM version of Orcs (or goblins, which is what we were talking about), they're not irredeemable thus murdering the infants of the species seems to me an evil act. I guess it all comes down to how you run your games and...

Why Should It Be Hard To Be A Paladin?

Dr Awkward and the others have answered pretty well. I don't throw such moral conundrums into too many games either. Not every dungeon crawl is going to end with the group carrying out the children of those they've slain and carrying them off to the church or orphanage. But there's no reason...

Get ready to defend your hobby again...

I was particularly interested in the part where the accused attempted to hand his victim a piece of metal (or whatever) in an attempt to get him to duel. I can honestly say that if some guy comes to my workplace (who I might have teased or whatever).. and starts off with.. "My name is Inigo...

Why Should It Be Hard To Be A Paladin?

I don't like to get all new-age with my paladins, but clearly it's their duty to protect the weak and innocent. A goblin baby would be the same as a human baby in that regard. The paladin might not even know about the serial killer's family, but the goblin baby is right there in front of his face.

Why Should It Be Hard To Be A Paladin?

How many people could honestly tell me that, in their games, it would be just fine for a paladin to gut a sleeping goblin-mother and walk off as the baby lays there crying, knowing that it's only fate is either to starve to death or be eaten by a wandering monster?

    New WotC Campaign Setting

I would like to see a new setting. Eberron's alright, but not my thing. FR is one of my favorites, but it already feels pretty epic (old). Then again, I'm a huge fan of Dragonlance, but it's not WotC. I guess the setting I would want would have the following: Psionics. Some Asian-type stuff...

Why Should It Be Hard To Be A Paladin?

If it's Mother is dead, that's still a death sentence for the baby goblin.

Why Should It Be Hard To Be A Paladin?

LOL! Seriously, though. I don't care what the RAW says, I have children and am pretty sure that had I punched one hard enough to knock either my son or daughter out when they were an infant, they probably would have died or had brain damage or somesuch. So yeah, baby-hitting paladins wouldn't...

Why Should It Be Hard To Be A Paladin?

Wow. First off, yes.. playing a paladin is a bit harder than playing a LG character of another class. Other LG characters can, rarely, bend or even break the rules. Paladins don't have this luxury. Though, I don't make it stupidly hard, either. Frankthedm said it best: I've pretty much...

SS, let us know how it turned out?

The paladin. A story and a question.

I think it would depend on how he went about clensing the rest of the monastery. Monks sleeping in their beds, priestesses on their knees begging for mercy.. and he killed them anyway? Yeah, that'd be evil. If they were given a chance to surrender, flee, or other such concessions then I hold...

The paladin. A story and a question.

I would say those two things are enough. Imagine being brought up in the paladin's world. Taught that ALL undead are unnatural, evil, and should be clensed to preserve the natrual order of things. Add to that the knowledge that there are spells out there (even if there are only two, but maybe...

How do you like you psionic flavor?

Well-said. That's the road I generally take. I always liked Psionics in DnD, but even moreso after watching Babylon-5. The Vorlons gave a few humans a little evolutionary nudge and set them down a path of psionics. Alfred Bester was one of my favorite characters on the show, and I loved the...
