Another Creature Catalog query for Dragon?

OK, i reworked many of them since i last posted. do any of these still need some work? Cave Fisher Magical Beast, CR 2 These large, cave-dwelling insectoid creatures resemble both spiders and lobsters. A hiding cave fisher can fire a strong, sticky filament that attaches to a creature due to...

Another Creature Catalog query for Dragon?

i was unaware of any special bond between githyanki and red dragons. :) i'm not sure how well that work with neutral-aligned creatures, so what other options are there?

Another Creature Catalog query for Dragon?

IIRC, Erik Mona refuses to print the rakasta unless they are well-done, and Mystara-rich. ;) think the lupin article... I'm thinking of asking around for ideas on making the tabaxi more interesting. People need a little break from Tiamat... :p besides, firedrakes aren't evil, and I'd...

Another Creature Catalog query for Dragon?

will do. i will consider any suggestions that would make the tabaxi, firedrake, or voadkyn more interesting, as long as they build upon what i posted in post #45 above... when the creature doesn't sell itself, we sometimes need to be the ones selling it. ;) honestly, i think the crystal ooze...

Another Creature Catalog query for Dragon?

In 2E, cure disease killed them. So CR 7 for the swam then? :) you can also kill them with fire, but attacking an infested victim also deals damage to the victim. Let's have a look at the Monstrous Manual: Habitat/Society: Tabaxi clans contain equal numbers of males and females, and a full...

Another Creature Catalog query for Dragon?

OK, finished up the last few. given that the writeups are spread out over the 1st page, i'm just reposting them all here. let's firm up the CRs where they are questionable, and make final decisions on creature types where needed. also, if you can think of any way to rephrase the description...

Another Creature Catalog query for Dragon?

:D i'd say that's fairly accurate. though, i would put the cave fisher a bit higher on the odds. it's sort of halfway between the bonespear and roper, but nostalgia might carry it a bit farther. as for the rest, well... as always, we're just tossing them out there to see what happens. :)

Another Creature Catalog query for Dragon?

heh, nice. :) finished a couple more, i'll try to get the rest done today: Giant Troll Giant, CR 6 These creatures are the hideous result of trolls crossbreeding with hill giants. They look mostly like oversized pot-bellied trolls, with reddish-brown skin and red-rimmed eyes. They usually...

Another Creature Catalog query for Dragon?

and, here are a few more: Firedrake Dragon, CR 3 This small creature resembles a young red dragon. It has a breath weapon, but otherwise lacks the special abilities common to dragons. Its blood is highly flammable, and any cuts the creature sustains cause the blood to ignite and burn the...

Another Creature Catalog query for Dragon?

been busy today, but i wrote a few more. :) don't be afraid to comment on these or the others i wrote. Piercer Aberration/Vermin, CR 1/4 These creatures resemble stalactites and hang from cavern ceilings. They drop down to impale opponents, dealing significant damage on a critical hit...

Another Creature Catalog query for Dragon?

well, they were cat-like creatures that guard items of value. it can increase its size, and if killed it will come back (they have nine lives, heh) stronger than before. they are summoned, apparently from the outer planes. OK, i got four done. let me know what you think of these, and the...

not that i can tell, no. of course, they do have the same name, so maybe we should drop them.

    Vampire Moss

fair enough. can you think of an example we could look at for writing such a sidebar? and i'm not in the least bit worried about wordcount on this one - we weren't given a maximum, and of course they may or may not be able to fit all of our creatures depending on which other ones they are...

    Vampire Moss

eh, there are a lot of numbers-related issues with the vampire moss that more time and probably playtesting would solve. unfortunately, our deadline is tomorrow. i'm all for leaving the Spot check as-is, unless someone has a good, quick solution that we can agree on. you think so?

    Archer Bush

perhaps... if you like, we can finish up the stat blocks through e-mail. (and, i notice the archer bush has a +4 Will save - think that's a mistake)

    Archer Bush

exactly - it's just a placeholder. where do i put in the ranged attacks? under the melee? am i missing anything else?

    Vampire Moss

sounds good to me. A character that succeeds on a DC X Spot check (? or Survival/Knowledge (Nature)?) will notice the color change, and any character specifically watching the moss will notice this automatically. filling in the blanks... fast healing 1? maybe go with 2? i think 5 might be a...

    Maedar

we could take any or all of those ideas. i'm not sure what to write up, but if someone would give me a paragraph i would add it. :) note, however, that these conversions are due in by friday so there is a deadline... ;)
