Star Wars: We Joined the Rebellion for This?! OOC

This sounds interesting. I'll start thinking about possible characters.

A desperate wish for the new site

In ignoring individual users, one may miss perfectly good posts by that user. In both cases, people who use the 'ignore' feature are willing to take that risk.

What are the best feats for a barbarian?

I'd agree that those are useful Bbn feats, but ... They don't seem terribly relevant. My suggestions are: Power Attack, Weapon Focus, Imp Crit, and Cleave. I'd have to do more thinking before picking any others for a Bbn. Maybe Weapon Specialization with some Fighter multiclassing.

    D&D 4E I'm not gonna do 4E

Gee, did they announce 4e recently? If you don't wanna switch, don't switch. There are still a few people who refuse to "give in to The Man" and play 2e instead of 3e. You'll be a new version of them. OTOH, if 4e is better than 3e, why not switch? Most people seem to want to play something...

    Have more fun with powergaming

Okay, we get it. You don't like powergaming. Why are you posting in my thread, exactly? This is supposed to be about what's *fun* about adding some powergaming to D&D.

    Have more fun with powergaming

jdrakeh, please stop trying to derail this thread. As I've said, I'm trying to encourage discussion of what people enjoy about powergaming, and if you believe that the writing in my own posts strays from that aim, so be it...but I'd rather not see this thread devolve into an argument based on...

    Have more fun with powergaming

No one said there *was* anything with not powergaming. What I'm after is, what makes it a fun time for you? Personally, it comes down to three things: * I like having effective characters. While the role of clumsy oaf brings a nice sense of comic relief to many media, it's not a character...

    Have more fun with powergaming

Would you not term building the Phase 3 character as powergaming? While he's not all twinked out to exploit loopholes in the system, you've certainly done a bit of powergaming in putting together that warblade (ugh...worst class name EVER) character.

    Have more fun with powergaming

Sadly, it took three replies to this thread before the first on-topic reply showed up :( Other than that, I wanted to respond to this: I'll thank you to refrain from putting words in my mouth. This thread isn't about saying that powergaming is the only way to go, only in getting people to...

    OotS 448

Oh. Yeah, I saw that. Though mildly amusing, it didn't make much of an impact on me, sorry. You'll have to spend another two minutes to come up with a better "better" script for this strip if you want to convince me.

Honey, how about becoming a vampire?

It would make for a very interesting game development, certainly, but if your DM will make you pay the LA cost of the template, it's not worth it in terms of character power. The cleric's power is his spells - and stopping that progression for several levels for the vampire template takes away...

    Have more fun with powergaming

A moment ago, I saw a thread entitled "Why non-powergamers suck" - and when I clicked on it, it had already been (probably rightly) deleted. Part of the idea suggested in the thread title is worth commenting on, though - a bit of powergaming can actually be more fun for a D&D game than...

So use http://www.openoffice.org instead. Free (in both uses of the word) and compatible with MS documents. Edit: Nevermind, someone beat me to the punch.

Dragon Bound (Disclaimer: 40 pages long, with subtle balance)

To start with, the dragon++ cohort. Besides that, you have Fighter BAB and HD, Clerical saves, and an unbreakable Kensai's weapon. And on an unrelated note, your spelling could use some work (dose instead of dose, prund instead of pruned, etc). If you ever manage to get this class balanced...

Dragon Bound (Disclaimer: 40 pages long, with subtle balance)

Wow. This class is STILL ridiculously overpowered, even after the edits. If you want to balance this with PHB classes, you really need to drop a few features from it. I'd get rid of the spells entirely. This class is so strong on so many other fronts that the spells really push it over the edge.

    Turn Based Strategy?

I'm a big fan of Civilization 3. Civ 4 is reputedly good, too, but I haven't picked it up yet - I'll be playing Civ 3 for quite a while before I move on.

    Weird problem with Firefox

Do your plugins disappear, too? Or is your list of bookmarks the only thing that you lose? How frequently DO they disappear? As a workaround, you could try installing the Chipmark plugin (www.chipmark.com) - it also has the added advantage of making your bookmarks available from any computer...

    Sage Advice's ruling on staves

The problem with quoting the FAQ or ROTG in a discussion about rules is that both sources are demonstrably wrong on a lot of points. Add the fact that they're not authoritative sources, and I'm surprised you ever get anything BUT derision for the rulings contained therein.

    Sage Advice's ruling on staves

If enw is a cesspool, I'm rather curious what constitutes a good and decent forum. Then again, the Rules forum tends to get a bit more heated than the other boards here.
