    Punishing Your Dice

I never bother punishing my dice -- if I'm rolling badly, well, I'm "rolling the bad luck out of them" ;) As for the rest of the thread -- I'm practically in tears! You guys have some GREAT dice-punishment methods! ;)

    "SPACE FIGHT!" Starship combat boardgame

 100m?! In space??!? What, are you kidding me? If we mounted weapons systems on *satellites* and were duking it out with Russia in orbit, engagement ranges would be more like 10-100km. 100m would be a friggin' knife fight in space. Shoot, a quick Googling suggests that Star Trek...

    "SPACE FIGHT!" Starship combat boardgame

Perhaps you could do something to make it a little easier to disable rather than destroy enemy ships? Some mechanic to discourage self-destruct might be in order, too. It ought to be a rare, desperate last resort, not a default "my ship is crippled. *BOOM*" last attack. How big *are* the...

    "SPACE FIGHT!" Starship combat boardgame

LOL, good luck. However you end up dealing with it, I'm sure you'll have a tough balancing act. Edit: IRT shields - is each line of boxes one arc? If so, could you just put a little circle at the right-hand end for "intensified"? If not, how do you intend to distinguish arcs from each other?

CSS and IE problems (Big Surprise)

What's depressing is that IE *6* still has around 20% of the browser market :( Also - Siberys - if you're still struggling on that layout, message me on one of the IM services (in addition to the links under my username, I'm elephantium in gchat). I've been doing a fair amount of struggling...

    "SPACE FIGHT!" Starship combat boardgame

I think the goals of having a system that's simple and quick for a large number of ships *and* being able to model single-ship details like "intensify forward shields", "full power to the death ray", and "shields down to 30%" are largely incompatible. For the fine-grained detail of the latter...

    "SPACE FIGHT!" Starship combat boardgame

The guys with nukes never heard of a timer? It seems like a painfully obvious feature -- have a timer and a network connection to the nukes, and the targeting computer sets the timer and cuts the wire just before launch. You might still want a miss chance, though -- depending on the speed and...

    "SPACE FIGHT!" Starship combat boardgame

What's the original size of those images? I don't think it matters if they're gigantic after I click through -- I expect a closer look if I do that. Besides, when the image is the only thing I'm looking at, it's not like needing to scroll to see part of the image will hide a bunch of other...

Why do CS re-subscriptions cost double?

I was thinking more along the lines of someone who had a CS account a year ago. Then again, I suppose such people could easily just post and ask for the "normal" rate.

Why do CS re-subscriptions cost double?

A CS subscription is $3/month ... unless you had one before, then it's $6/month. Why is there such a punitive price difference between the two? If anything, I would think you'd want to encourage lapsed CS accounts to resubscribe with a discount.

On another note, is there any chance you could shrink the images on the main Space Fight page? It needs a humongous 1720 pixel-wide window to display without side-scrolling, that bane of the Internet. My 1024x768 monitor doesn't even come close :( One possibility would be to thumbnail the...

    TRAILBLAZER - PDF Release - Discussion/Questions/Errata

So...the news blurb says that the print version will be available on amazon.com ... two months ago. Could we get an update on the status of the print version?

    New ad bar

Like I said, I value the community, but I take exception to the management here. Some things are done well (Granny rules, fostering a very active D&D community), others ... not so much (instances of bad moderation, spam tactics for newsletters, censorship). Also - as I've already mentioned, I...

    New ad bar

Others have posted about "allow all on this site" - and that'll work - but you'll need to restart your browser before you visit other sites if you want to avoid ad scripts/Google tracking/etc on other sites.

The above phrasing would be more appropriate, given my multiple purchases of EN Publishing pdfs.

    New ad bar

Ouch. That explains the desperation leading to the obnoxious changes on the site and the newsletter spamming. $35 isn't a cheap meal. Your rulebook comparison is a better one. The material (e.g. the 3e monster conversions and Wulf's Trailblazer previews) and the community have some value...

Metamorphosis: From Dretch to Demon Lord - Ascension Released!

Are the statblocks for the story posted anywhere? There were references to Rogue's Gallery posts early in the thread, but the (cyberstreet) links are broken. I do have the deluxe editions of the first two books, so mostly I'm wondering about statblocks for the Book 3 characters.
