    D&D 4E D&D 4E fans: what do you like about 4E?

This thread has made me starting thinking about running 4e again. May have to dig out the Chaos Scar.

    D&D 4E D&D 4E fans: what do you like about 4E?

There is a 4e Foundry module. Fantasy Grounds supports 4e natively. Roll20 also does 4e. None of them are perfect. All of them require extra work on the set up. The 4e discord channel has some great resources for getting all of these up and running.

D&D General "Forever DM" - choice or lack of alternatives?

I prefer to GM over play. I would occasionally like the opportunity to play, if only to get a break from the GM chair. I am the only reliable GM in my group. I would love to have the opportunity to be a player in a long term game. It hasn't happened since I was just out of high-school in my...

    How often do you play?

I have a weekly game that meets Tuesday or Wednesday depending on the time of year. 7pm CST. This game meets regularly, we have 4 1/2 players and we don't cancel unless we are down more than 1 player. I'll run for 3 depending on the game, PF1/PF2 no, but Savage Worlds or WHFRP? I'll run...

How do YOU decide what to run?

Guess I'll answer my own question. I keep a small list of things I'm interested in running, typically organized by the system I'd use to run it. My groups is not narratively focused, or story-first, or emerging story, or whatever you want to call it. We are pretty solidly mid-high crunch...

How do YOU decide what to run?

If your bookshelves and hard drives are anything like mine you have a ton of options on what you'd like to run. Sure some stuff you bought just for inspiration but when staring New Campaign time in the mouth how do you decide what to run? I find myself in that situation currently. I can't...

The Best Game for A Long Campaign

Given the 5+ years criteria I'd go with GURPS. As long as you keep a handle on the CP handed out you'll be golden. If you play it for 5 years the rules knowledge issues become trivial. HERO would probably work the same way.

Pathfinder 1E Are people still playing Pathfinder 1e?

I was running it in PF1. The rules system wasn’t the issue. The AP itself was. The players just weren’t feeling it. I agree with your comments about PF2. I want to like it and I keep trying. It just isn’t my jam.

    Your Typical Game Session

For my mid-week online game we are all central time zone and start at 7pm. I log in when I get home from work and review the next three or four possible rooms/encounters. We are playing PF2 Abomination Vaults, using the Paizo official AV Foundry Module so prep is dirt simple. I typically log...

Pathfinder 1E Are people still playing Pathfinder 1e?

I'd like to be...Does that count? Maybe after this PF2 game runs it's course I'll come back to it. A couple months ago I started running Carrion Crown for my mid-week game (1/2 the year we meet on Tuesday. After football season we switch to Wednesday). They just couldn't get into the AP, so...

    Recommend Me Audiobook Fantasy

Malazan Book of the Fallen. Steen Erikson. It's 8 giant books. Gardens of the Moon, the first book, and shortest, is 26 hours according to Audible. I've read the first 5 or 6 Rivers of London books, mentioned below. They are good fun. Audiobook was the only way I ever finished The Wheel of...

    A Change of Pace...

I run a lot of Savage Worlds. I adore Savage Pathfinder, if there were a Savage Starfinder, Pinnacle and Paizo could just take my wallet entirely. Savage Worlds is a good game for a younger crowd or mixed crowd. It’s not super deadly. It’s swingy, and the highs can be very high indeed. It's...

    Paizo Announces Starfinder 2nd Edition

I tend to agree. PF2 is a well designed and put together. I was, and continue to be, disappointed it doesn't really work for me. There are elements that I really, really like, the three-action economy, reigning in of caster supremacy, rituals, I even like the rune system. I wish they had...

    Paizo Announces Starfinder 2nd Edition

in my opinion the game feels over designed. It feels constraining and very tight. That tightness extends beyond just the math. And the math. I appreciate that encounter balance means something. That the CR system works. That said, in my opinion, the jack-in-the-box effect is see alot is...

In house game development becomes simpler for them. Single development team moving forward. Lots of business advantages. I can’t blame them.

    Paizo Announces Starfinder 2nd Edition

Guess I’ll start completing my SF1e physical collection. I’m currently giving PF2 for third time (not 3rd session, third attempt at a fair shake). I still have the same issues I had the first two times and moving SF to the same systems might kill that for me.
