    Where is everyone?

I still visit three or so times a day, and go over to CM at night to look around. I rarely look at the 4E threads because I'm the kind of person who wants to see the book in my hands before I make up my mind. Arguing about it six months prior to publication is a waste of time and energy.

The Last Breaths of Ashenport - Dungeon 152

Congrats on a fun new adventure Ari / Mousferatu! There are some really great descriptions in this, and many read like a punch in the gut. "Although it has largely faded, blurred by many years and the overpowering scents of ocean, rain, and fish, the tang of human misery still clings to the...

The Santa thread, Part 2 : Childhood revelations

I figured it out around 10 or 11, when the Santa present was wrapped in the same paper as the presents from my folks. :\ I've tried to be much sly-er with my kids, but my nine year old daughter told me last year that Santa wasn't real. I told her I believed in him, as Santa is more than a...

Why are most dungeon entrances on the south?

According to my Wikipedia-fu, its due to Feng Shui and Wu Xing. The South, in these ancient Chinese systems, is associated with the element Fire. Other associations include the planet Mars, over-excitement, bitter taste, sheep/goats, and the middle finger. How's that? ;)

    Avatar Tonight!!!!

I think I'm just going to wait until the third season is all on DVD. My gaming group meets Friday nights and I don't have Tivo. Maybe they can start re-running the 3rd season episodes on some other night?

    Using Meetup.com

I've tried the idea you've mentioned and our group never jelled. I put an ad on this site and when we met none of us could agree on a time or place to meet. I had more luck with MeetUps/Yahoo! Groups. If you don't want to pay the MeetUp fee, I'd suggest instead setting up a Yahoo! Group for...

    Comprehensive Lava rules?

I've downloaded the rules, and have been following the discusssion on this and several other board's regarding this topic. I'm very excited and I know some of my players will be too. I was wondering this - how best to introduce such a rule to your players? I really don't want to surprise them...

    What DON'T you like about 1E AD&D?

I'm very PDF friendly, so I'm probably not a good gauge of the general public. I try to keep my book collection small and I game with a laptop. I also like to reformat information around into player handouts or wikis. As for small bits vs. large book, it all depends on what your serving...

    Wired Blogger Recommends (old) RPGs

I found this article today on Wired.com's Geek Dad Blog. Here's the intro: One of the aspects of my geekism, that I've never regretted, is my love for role-playing games. No, not MMORPGs. Not Playstation. Good ol' fashioned paper, pencil, and polyhedron dice role-playing games. Aside from the...

An E6 oriental/western game (replacement needed) - last call for bento

I hope my Shugenja pick didn't make you feel that I'll be monopolizing the "divine" roll in the party. My focus will be on elemental / natural harmony, almost like a druid. My spell list revolves around elemental schools, my choice is water. Melee combat-wise I'm skilled with the short sword...

An E6 oriental/western game (replacement needed) - last call for bento

Been looking for a PbP and OA is up my alley! Interested in playing a Spirit Folk (River) Shugenja (Water). He fled his homeland after it was devestated first by raiders then by wildfires. He's a country-pumpkin and despite his setbacks, an optimist. He keeps in his heart the hope that he...

    How's Your Time Spent?

I try to pick a module or adventure that fits my groups' tastes. Recently it was the 1E module B4: The Lost City. I spent most of my prep time updating the monsters to 3.5E, tweaking background information for the NPCs and painting miniatures. When the adventure isn't focused on a dungeon...

November - What are you reading?

About half-way through "Darwinia: a Novel of a Very Different Twentieth Century" by Robert Charles Wilson. So far we're with an expedition exploring primeaval Europe, but I can tell its going to veer off in a completely different direction in a chapter or two.

Tell me of your True20 campaigns!

Other publishers have been testing the water on True20 for a couple of years now. There's some good genre-specific games out there like Darwin's World (post-apocalyptic) and Blood Throne. I find that when there's not published materials already, its fairly easy to translate a feat or a monster...
