I thought the 3.5 PH and DMG were worth buying, but, for the life of me, I still don't know why I bought the Monster Manual as well. I really didn't need that. For me, that was a waste of money. I still use the old one nearly as often. It's just a matter of which one I pick up first.

Amen to that. I don't think I've ever played a 3e D&D game that has topped some of my older edition games for "feeling" and "atmosphere" Actually, I'm not really sure why that is. Strange. Though I do have to agree that the classes don't feel as defined as they used to be.

I would disagree with that. I've seen evidence of 3e being a better, more concise system with fewer (not none, but fewer) inconsistencies between core materials. That said, however, I loved 1st and 2nd, and would still be willing to play them if they were run by a decent GM. Unfortunately...

I'd do that, but I've already got tons of minis in line to be painted, both for myself and friends. And, actually, this store is more of a comic store than a game store. Most things they order me will be special orders. They have no minis, and no mini bin... :(

Okay, I'm looking for ideas again. My ULGS (yes... U) has a $120 store credit waiting for me that I have built up over time. It's time to spend it now. My guess is that all their gaming books are going to be retail price, but I have to use that credit somehow, and I don't want to use it on...

I pretty much exclusively buy online. It's tough for me to pay full retail for a book when they are SO much cheaper online. I'd pay a few bucks more to support my FLGS, but not as much as $10-$12 more. Besides... I buy minis in my FLGS, and paints.
