D&D 5E (2014) SKT: The Uthgardt and Modern Sensibilities

I think the key point is, 'some people'. Some noisy internet people for the most part. But hey, if they want to get mad over such things, that's their call. Luckily, most tables don't feature 'some people' but rather individuals, who we can talk to and, at least from my experience, really...

D&D 5E (2014) What else to I need to consider for a 5e realism hard mode?

% chance of the character being born with some crippling ailment and/or acquiring something similar during their day to day living in a world with minimal sewage systems (if any!)?

D&D 5E (2014) DnD Beyond - Why is it still so bad?

I get annoyed with folks flogging digital products past a point. Unlike real life products, where resources are finite and labour a constant in so many cases, once you push past the initial development and cover the on-going maintenance, you're basically charging folks for the 'service' - which...

    D&D 5E (2014) Why D&D Can't Have a Good Video Game

Hmm.. We play D&D exclusively using our computers. I'd argue that D&D already exists as a computer game. Heck, as a mulitplayer, co-op experience it's the best we've played - the graphics and community are awesome! As for 'video game', it's an interesting example of how folks have become...

    D&D 5E (2014) "Mystics are Lame" thread

Having actually played a mystic, after making up two different characters with the latest rules and scrapping one over the other so as to better gel with the table... ...I found that you can make a capable character who has a some solid tricks up their sleeves but who must combine said tricks...

D&D 5E (2014) Multiclassing ability score prerequisites—required for balance or an unnecessary hurdle?

Neither - they're a suggestion. Ignore them as you wish. Or do not. Or heck, do. Then do not! Then do every other campaign! And twice on Tuesdays!

D&D 5E (2014) [Tomb of Annihilation] Less absolute Curse?

Maybe give it a go, as designed for a session or three? Might like it, might not - of course, might not be an option if time is limited. I can understand how some folks might get attached to characters. Live hard, die hard - have folks make up a few characters before hand. Then those that...

D&D 5E (2014) Should Published Settings Limit Classes and Races Allowed?

Sure, why not. Folks can always ignore the suggestion. Campaign worlds like Dark Sun were built on, amongst other things, their thematic take on, and lack of, certain 'traditional' races. Folks are free to add Warforged, Tritons and whatever they wish - it's a magical world so anything can...

    D&D 5E (2014) 5e common cold!

Hot chicken soup. And a pint of whiskey. Rules wise? If the character is female, no real change - you can continue adventuring as effectively as before. If the character is male then it's straight up Death Saving throws every round until the brave hero finally bites it. Man-flu. Remember...

Magic meth is one heck of a ride.. Actually on topic: Folks, throw in whatever rule tweaks & creations you want into your games! Go on, it's ok, I give you my blessing. Personally, when our lot are romping through dangerously hot areas, I'll be tapping into their water supplies and enjoying...

D&D 5E (2014) Mike Mearls: Ranged Paladin doesn't break anything

Can you though? A javelin, when used as a ranged weapon, is classed as a ranged weapon. Actually, found the clarification from Sage Advice: So if I'm understanding correctly, no, a paladin cannot smite with a javelin when using it to make a ranged attack.

D&D 5E (2014) Mike Mearls: Ranged Paladin doesn't break anything

Are we talking 'at range.. instead of in melee' or 'both ranged and melee'? Because there's a fairly big difference between the two! I know a paladin or three that'd enjoy throwing the odd javelin for some smitey goodness, even though they're using S&D/Great weapons... ..and with Crossbow...

D&D 5E (2014) SCAG Subclasses: Which do you like?

I do love the Mastermind. Go for great mental stats and middling to poor physical. Work your connections, bribe/persuade lackeys/minions to follow to glory/their doom. Do business. Own the cities. All while enjoying the inherent roguey utility, damage and defense. While in theory, any...
