What are the DM's obligations of disclosure for sensitive game material? What is "sensitive" game material?

We mostly flip this around, having folks let us know if there's anything that they're not comfortable with. I say, 'mostly' because really its all about developing a dialogue and an understanding that, for our table at least, we're not going to go out of our way to upset someone. Still, like in...

    D&D 5E (2014) Mythological Figures: Sir Lancelot (5E)

Aye, and as you say, that can be interpreted any way. The best can be a 2nd level challenge, they can be 3rd level. They can have plot armour because, hey, its a story, right? The initial point, 'standing out as paragons' and that counter point that such paragon-like nature is relative to the...

What are the DM's obligations of disclosure for sensitive game material? What is "sensitive" game material?

A wise someone once said, 'You are responsible for managing and maintaining your emotional health as much as your physical & psychological'.

    D&D 5E (2014) Mythological Figures: Sir Lancelot (5E)

9th level characters versus 1/4 level fodder? Besides, you can never trust a story about folks with higher charisma scores!

    D&D 5E (2014) Mythological Figures: Sir Lancelot (5E)

Int 13? Was he known for being smart? (I know jack about the Knights of the Round table, aside from Camelot - 'tis a silly place..)

D&D 5E (2014) As a DM what spell / ability do you find most annoying?

Light. Revivify. Fear of the dark is all to easily conquered. As is fear of death.

What are the DM's obligations of disclosure for sensitive game material? What is "sensitive" game material?

Well, we assume a general quality of emotional health for those at our table, and assume that they've dealt with anything that needs dealing with and if not, are seeking help and are considerate enough to let us know if they have a problem. At to be honest, if they have a problem that could...

    D&D 5E (2014) So Why is 5E So Popular?

Rather than due to any high quality in design, I'd say its current popularity is due to a combination of cheap, accessible online networking tools, hefty online promotion and a lack of other 'modern' D&D* alternatives. *...I consider 4E a tabletop skirmish game first and foremost.

PICK UP THE D4. GO ON. GIVE ME AN EXCUSE.

Mike Mearls Happy Fun Hour: The Warlord

I think a bard singing an inspirational tune or setting a suitable beat is more palatable. Akin to ye Olde car stereo blaring out tunes as you floor it. However, if the bard was shouting out commands like an up-beat exercise video? Yeah... they're going to find themselves on the wrong side of a...

Mike Mearls Happy Fun Hour: The Warlord

Possibly! When I play a DMPC I usually go for the bard, cleric, mastermind rogue or controller-focused wizard. Tho, currently writing up a Redemption Paladin.

Mike Mearls Happy Fun Hour: The Warlord

I can dig that - having never played one, thanks for the heads up. ..I'm with Lord Edmund Blackadder with regards to Bards & music on this one..

Mike Mearls Happy Fun Hour: The Warlord

:erm: A non-fighty/not very fighty Warlord sounds... ...really really annoying. Akin to a back-seat driver. Sure, in the real world we have coaches and instructors but... well maybe its just our table and we assume to roles of adventurers that typically graduated from boot camp. Having...

"Are the Authors of the Dungeon & Dragons Hardcover Adventures Blind to the Plight of DMs?"

Aye, as acknowledged, the DMG has some tools. Personally, I'd appreciate more releases focused on developing the DM toolkit. The game encourages by its nature it and WOC can encourage it through their choice of content released.

"Are the Authors of the Dungeon & Dragons Hardcover Adventures Blind to the Plight of DMs?"

Which WoC resouces support DMs through providing tools that they might better craft their own content? I know there's stuff like the Downtime activities in the DMG, the guidelines for making your own race and things like that in the DMG. I guess the setting information and maps included in the...
