    DDXP Begins Today!

I think that there are two things that may be getting mixed up together here. WotC said that the players would be able to mix styles. That is, you could have players who are playing basic D&D-style characters at the same table as characters who are playing 3.X-style characters. If what I read...

    DDXP Begins Today!

I don't think the DM and the players wanting to run/play two dramatically different styles of play is a problem that can be solved by D&D. Heck, I don't think that is a problem that can be solved by *any* RPG system.

    DDXP Begins Today!

That is awesome news!! I am gladly corrected.

    DDXP Begins Today!

Given that, IIRC, the seminars require a signed NDA to get into, I would be highly surprised if they will be streamed.

DDI Virtual Table Beta Tour and Future

*Nods* Maptool is powerful, don't get me wrong. But, as Ardoughter mentioned, it has a rather steep learning curve. The VT comes with next-to-seamless integration with the CB and VT. To get the same level of integration with Maptool requires the installation of frameworks and other stuff. In...

DDI Virtual Table Beta Tour and Future

For some people (including 2 in my home group), having to install maptool and skype is *very* technically challenging. The fact that with the VT, you click and it runs, you have a *large* barrier that doesn't need to be overcome.

DDI Virtual Table Beta Tour and Future

I am seeing if I can get more access keys to the VT that I can give out. I had 10, but gave them all out already to people who were interested in trying it out and looking around. As soon as I get more, I will post back in here or in the 4E forums with a thread.

DDI Virtual Table Beta Tour and Future

The VT (and DDI) was built around 4E, so it is very optimized to running 4E on it. Other editions of D&D will be more difficult to make fit, and RPGs that aren't built around the d20 system will be very difficult to make fit. As for the maps, my suspicion (completely WAG to be honest) is that...

DDI Virtual Table Beta Tour and Future

I will answer as best I can, but have not tried to use it for this, so I may be wrong... The character data on character sheet in the VT is built around the 4E character type data. If you can fit it into those power-styles, you should be able to use the VT as a ruleset agnostic battlemat/dice...

DDI Virtual Table Beta Tour and Future

The big draw for the VT is the ability to import your characters from the Character Builder and have the macros required to use the powers already programmed. In addition, as mentioned, monsters can be imported automatically from the AT and have their attacks built in already. No macro...

WotC to Release 1st Edition Premium Core Rulebooks Reprints

I have poked WotC to find out what is the reason behind it. It being friday, it may take some time to get an answer, so I make no promises.

Non-North American Gamers who want to buy the 1e reprints, sound off!

Trevor is looking. It being friday, an answer may not be forthcoming until monday. I would take a way for someone to find a way for a couple of extra hours in the day so that I could get some substantial gaming in.

WotC to Release 1st Edition Premium Core Rulebooks Reprints

From what I have read, North American FLGSs only.

The return of the Male Human Fighter!

Why were there so many pieces of art with Regnar dyng?? Because originally, the designers wanted Regnar to be black, but someone higher up said he had to be Caucasian. So, in revenge, they had him dying in all of his art.

WotC Seeks Unity with a New Edition

The VT wasn't released because it wasn't ready. The 3PP that they originally contracted out to work on it didn't get it done in time, and it took time for them to attempt to program it themselves (I assume), realize that they couldn't, and license out a different program for the VT that is...

What WotC hasnt done yet: Old Settings

That being said, and I may be reading into that statement stuff that isn't there, but there is a difference between updating stuff from old editions, and creating *new* stuff for the campaign setting. I suspect that the latter will be much, much easier to get posted than the former.

Same rules or different Rules (PC vs NPC)

If they do use the same rules, make it clear that there are powers that the NPC/monster can have that the PCs cannot get.

    Pathfinder 1E Paizo and 5e

Paizo is nothing if not smart in determining where the winds are blowing. They did it with Pathfinder, seeing that there was a large population of players who were not being served that they (Paizo) could serve. It is far too soon for them to determine whether or not they will throw some...

D&D 5E (2014) [5E] To Vance or not to Vance - That is the Question

While I wouldn't mind a pure Vancian-type magic system for magic-users, I really dislike the idea of a magic user having to resort to a sling or darts once he has used his last spell for the day. For me, a magic user *always* has something magical to do, even if it is a simply infinite use...
