This is where my headspace is at. 5E sans feats and MC* sits in that "sweet spot" between T/OSR versions of the game, and the nuttiness of 3E/4E and PF **. This "sans options" ruleset is where 5E is strongest . If I/we want "more", I'll go elsewhere for that-4E, 13A, PF2 maybe for the future...

Why the need for two articles trying to connect The Witcher and D&D? What does it matter?

Yeaah, I'm thinking PF2 is going to be the polar opposite of 5E when it comes to how deadly game play is. Does PF2 have a low level equivalent of revivify?

Having only read the OP- "Books are Books. Games are Games." That's an old, old magazine article in The Dragon from the 1970s. Still worth a read today.

My 2 clacks.. ICE/MERP held the license the longest by far : 82-ish for the first ME universal system supplement, then '84 for MERP itself and held through 1999. And produced the most amount of material by far. And disregarding whatever one feels about the system itself, the source material...

Have not played it, but there is this... Blood & Bronze I think at one point they had a freebie preview- I can't seem to locate my copy though (different computer). I believe it is D6 dice pool based. I think that with some tinkering to make it more heroic- Various versions of RQ work...
