    POLL: DM or Player?

I've been GMing (D&D, oWoD, a few other things here and there) pretty much nonstop since 97 or so. In that time I've only managed to regularly play maybe two - three times. GMing is my passion, but I do like to play whenever I can. (ATM I'm running my homebrew and playing in another game so...

My favourite published campaign setting would be...

    1. the OTU (Official Traveller Universe) - from milieu 0 to TNE:1248. I love the pants off it. 2. Gygaxian greyhawk - not so much the Greyhawk Wars + stuff. 3. Glorantha (preferably in it's RQ expression - go Uz!) 4. Spelljammer 5. Planescape 6. Eberron With very strong runners up in the...

1E Unearthed Arcana: Yea or Nay?

Then, yes. Now, in the theoretical but possible, probably not - or at least, I probably wouldn't use everything from it.

    Evolution of the Fighter

Having not spent terribly much time on WotCs website except for very specific purposes prior to late last year (that whole edition change thing....) I'm reading these and .... wow. Especially the PH II article. The spin hits me doubly as I didn't much care for the PH II.

1.5, 2.5, 3.5, forked from: Evolution of the Fighter

Purely as a point of nomenclature (obviously there was no declared 1.5 ruleset) I have always tended to divide the books between those released during Gygax's tenure on the game (whiich is up to and including UA) and those after (the Survival Guides, pro'lly a book or two I'm forgetting). They...

    Evolution of the Fighter

Ouch. I recall many a nest of kobolds (and othertimes, goblins) that went out like a snuffed match once the party's fighters hit that certain level. I pretty much just DM nowadays so any chance I have to run a lone PC is precious to me - and I've always had a fondness for fighters and other...

    Evolution of the Fighter

Not saying that complexity is inherently bad, just that I disagree that increased complexity is inherently good. One of my favorite things early on in 3.x was that feats allowed me to option the s**t out of my fighters in a way that surpassed simple notions of "what weapons would you like to be...

    Evolution of the Fighter

Ah yes, because additional complexity makes anything better. :-S I love how the article doesn't provide framing context (like how fighter, rangers, and paladins were the only classes to *get* multiple attacks) You know, if I'm playing a fighter, presumably it's because I want to play a...

    (A/O)D&D Dream Team

Right place right time is all - though (not to make a big deal out of it) technically it's ma'am. Don't worry, I get it a lot with a gender ambiguous nickname. And I understand about the spending weeks bit - I recently spent about a fortnight trying to find which specifc issue of White Dwarf...

    (A/O)D&D Dream Team

A lot of the Mayfair/Role Aids stuff always struck me as adhering to the same or similar design philosophy of a lot of the Judges Guild stuff....just with higher production values. Some of it was maybe a touch too silly for my taste (or would be now). In any case I can recall a few that got...

Question of Gravity. One of the cooler adventures from that period, though the stated "plot" fell kind of flat for me.

Right you are and pick away - this should teach me to post at four thirty am. In any case I do believe I saw a copy of it online somewhere (drive thru rpg most likely) for teh cheap. Adding to my original point: Depending on where you wanted to go with it, you could factor the Desert...

What do you want WOTC to release as the next 4e campaign setting?

Airplane. There's a lot of love for the old Abrams/Zucker movies around here. :)

You could do themes: Isle of Dread Dwellers of the Forbidden City Hidden Shrine of Tamoachan (and theoretically you could stick Isle of the Ape on the end of there) alternately Tomb of Ra Accursed By Set (a really old Judges Guild adventure) Pharoah Oasis of the White Palm Lost Tomb of...

Forked Thread: Disappointed in 4e - 3.x Classic Modules

Most likely Red Hand of Doom - it's really the only 3.x era adventure I've really ever heard of anyone praising (at least in terms of stuff by WotC). I've never played it so I can only speculate. Personally, it'd have to be Tomb of Abysthor. Hands down. That ate MONTHS of extremely fun gaming.
