I have read the following this month: Iron Council by China Meiville- A very good book that is bothe evocative, original and has plenty of depth to the storyline. Shaman's Crossing by Robin Hobb- I think i was a bit dissapointed with this book but it is still better than most other authors i...

    Small Publishers on RPGNow

concurring Stephens opinion of the current clutter on RPGNOW and how splitting the product base is a good thing for me as a customer, for doing searches and having more visibility for the smaller products.

Adventure seeds and full adventures and things between...

There is an awesome PDF on RPGNOW called "A Hundred Adventure Seeds" or something like that, i love that product. It is pretty much a one-2 page write up with the plot, hook and "twist" section.

    The market dying?

Interesting discussion with some very varied and valid perspectives- I think that the topic is important and relevant to all of us as such, we should discuss this in a positive manner and try and remember to be polite, considerate and good to one another lest the thread be closed. Is the...

There is a prachment template/format layout that is floating around on the net somewhere. It seems to work quite well.

It's that time of year... (rant)

Funny, my wife told me the same exact thing last week. I just reminded her how important it was to her to get her degree and how she can quit stripping once she does ;) Think of the rewards at the end. The pride you will have once you accomplish this even though you have all this additional...

    Crappy day

Hence it is better to walk to work or take seperate cars :) I agree with emails, IMs or phone calls at work as not being an effective way of communicating. The communication breaks down due to too much "static". Same thing with gifts etc. as a way to make up for "issues" (gifts are much better...

    GC 2006 - Ptolus Hardback $120!?!

Again, take a deep breath and repeart after me: RPG's are a luxury, not a necessity. The car analogy is perfectly apt. The last time i checked, we live in a FREE MARKET society. Demand drives supply and price. A manufacturer, unless an Oligopoly or a monopoly is restricted in what they can do...

    GC 2006 - Ptolus Hardback $120!?!

Take a deep breath and keep repeating (Bart Simpsion style): Gaming products are a LUXURY; Food, water and housing are a necessity. ergo: It is OK for someone to price a gaming product at what they think is the right production value. We are a consumer driven society, hence it is the...

Which is best: Dragonmech, Iron Kingdoms, d20 Steampunk, Other?

Another Vote for Iron Kingdoms - it just won 2 Ennies for best campaign setting and best writing. IK has a full line of support, including allll the Warmachine mini's which you can use for the table top game. Once you get a good feel for GMing it, it is a wonderful setting to use. If you need...

    Has the RPGA failed?

PirateCat, what you stated has been pretty much my impression as well of RPGA. Living campaigns are a good idea, but they do not "help" in the learning or recruiting process or add to the business model in anyway. As you stated, there is a tremendous benifit in the "one shot" ideas and i have...

Why no love for WotC? (and why now?)

I am not sure if there is any hatred for WotC. I do know, from personal experience, that their recent products have been lagging behind third party producers in content and sometimes in production values. The "environment" series has been done and redone by others prior to WotC, as an example...

Mongoose's "The Drow War I - The Gathering Storm"

The module is very well designed - how would you recommend getting rid of the starhost stuff. I discussed with my players and they will absolutely never play anything so linear where the player characters cannot die and are the "chosen ones".

    Let's run a module: Nominations

I nominate, from Dungeon Issue #121, "The Styes" - a great adventure of 9th level. Here is the blurb on it: The Styes by Richard Pett Once, the Styes was the ocean gateway to a major city, her magnificent buildings crowning a man-made island held aloft on piers and boardwalks. Now, it has grown...

    Let's all run a module

I think that the module would have to be scalable and "generic: This would mean primarily human/humanoid antagonists, i think, with class levels that are easily scalable. The Penumbra Adventure, Maiden Voyage comes to mind.
