It’s LAUNCH DAY For The Pathfinder 2 Playtest!

I would hope so. PF1 is definitely too complex for my taste (these days). While I can still handle the complexity with some effort (and precious time), neither my DM nor my fellow players are up to it. And that's a really bad thing.

mmh, this popcorn sure is tasty :D

How Many Encounters in an Adventure?

Combats in D&D 3e were longer than combats in 4e. They required fewer rounds of combat but took a lot longer to play through. This was mostly caused by page-long stat blocks with long lists of feats and spells that required looking them up and game effects that required you to recalculate...

Fantasy Grounds Usage Stats Confirms D&D #1, Followed by Pathfinder, Savage Worlds

More likely it's because it's the best edition of D&D :D

Best D&D Novels- Of All TIme

That matches my experience. I had started to re-read the original Dragonlance series at some point but quickly decided I prefer my rose-tinted memories to what's actually written. Reading the 'Prism Pentad' a second time wasn't as painful, but that was probably because I focused on making notes...

Umm, yeah. Or rather, no. Best forget about it.

I've seen plenty. Now, a perfectly spherical one? Of course not. A perfect sphere only exists in theory.

Watch These 4 Trailers for Ravnica

Hmm. I guess this is my least favorite M:tG setting. A world-spanning city? That kind of nonsense is best reserved for Star Wars.

From Boardgame to RPG - Zombicide The RPG Announced

Well, Zombicide is an immensely popular board game series, thanks mostly to the great miniature sculpts. While I consider the gameplay to be at best mediocre, that doesn't mean that it could serve as a basis for a good RPG. At least it's already ensured you're going to have great minis to use in...

    D&D: The Board Game?

While technically probably true, I don't consider Waterdeep a D&D board game. The theme is completely pasted on. I've heard good things about Tyrants of the Underdark but haven't played it myself, yet. I also enjoy playing the various D&D Adventure System Games, but many feel that they're too...

    The Sandbox and the Railroad

Well, if you ask pemerton, unless a sandbox allows you to build a _real_ sand castle, it's no sandbox!

Imho, the fewer rules, the better. Diseases (and curses) work best as plot devices.

    An Army in the Dungeon

Err. There's something wonky with the forum software, I guess. I could see the image in the preview, but after submitting the post, it was gone. I tried inserting as an image and attachment. Now, though, I can see the image. Really strange!

My Attempt to Define RPG's - RPG's aren't actually Games

??? wt...? Could someone please warn pemerton that his ENWorld account has been hacked? Someone is impersonating him, spouting nonsense! I'm not even sure where to start. I guess, for the sake of my health and sanity, I'll just ignore I've ever seen this post.

My Attempt to Define RPG's - RPG's aren't actually Games

Well, Maxis used to call their Sim series of computer games 'software toys', because: That pretty much exactly describes RPGs, don't you think? RPGs are more than 'just' games because they're so open. They provide you with a sandbox to play in as you like.

    An Army in the Dungeon

To be honest, this looks more complicated to me than a 5e character sheet: Official 5e character sheets On a note paper you'd only record skills that the character has actually improved, so there's little additional info required compared to AD&D. Edit: Hmpf, how did you manage to insert an...

    An Army in the Dungeon

You mean in D&D 5e? In most RPGs you can still roll up characters on notebook paper.
