Because I want to show how alien the other races are, having different ideals flaws and bonds and then rewarding players for roleplaying those gets the players to think about the fact elves are not humans with pointy ears.

It's not about minding marking, it's that advantage on oppertuinity attacks is super lame, and really isn't what those of us that want marking want. What would be wrong with Marked target has disadvantage on attacking anyone but you.
