    GEN CON being sold?

    Interesting. Thanks for the link.

    OGL & GSL D&D variants?

Monte has stated that he has no plans to update AE to Fourth Edition himself. Likewise Adam Windsor has said that he doesn't have much interest in upgrading Iron Heroes to 4E either.

    Discussing 4e Subsystems: Conditions

Nice analysis. I agree that they way they work in 4E makes sense. The constant shuffling of paperwork or cards to track them? That's where I agree that they could change a little more for the better.

Does art matter in a publication?

If someone recommends a good product that fills a need or offers something that I can't get elsewhere, I'll absolutely buy it, art or not. That said, I like good art in a fantasy book. I know that I've had more favorable opinions of certain companies product lines because they had better art...

How Many Beers per Gaming Session?

Group A - No drinking whatsoever. (For the smoker count, none.) This group meets every other week. Group B - Some teetotallers (2) and the rest drink on average 4 beers in a session. We meet at best once a month. The sessions usually last about 8 hours. This crew is a big dinner crew - we all...

    12 Tact-Tiles Sold for $360!

I understand the apparent contradiction, but the article itself stated that he was an owner and one of the creators. Even if he isn't, he should know the other members of that company.

    12 Tact-Tiles Sold for $360!

I found one article on Atomic Think Tank that was from when they first came out. The name of one of the creators is at the bottom: The Atomic Think Tank :: View topic - mapping M&M with TACT TILES

Nov RPG Book Club: City of Brass

Good question. I would say slightly better on the setting side than the adventure side (because it's so wide open), but it's pretty good at both. There are many detailed locations in the city and outside. (I particularly like the line to get in.)

    Arabian Themed Art and Maps

I didn't find any galleries, but I did Google a lot using keywords on Image search when I was doing similar searches last year. With some hunting, I found a fair amount. Entries like "mosque", "wadi", "kaaba", "hookah" and so forth did okay. Another alternative is to check e-Bay. A fair amount...

RPG ideas for a 5 year old

I've tried doing things like letting them play the familiar, or roll the big d20 for me instead of my rolling. They get bored quickly. I would suggest that you're better off with some one-on-one roleplaying later. Robin Law's Faery's Tale RPG works well for young kids, according to my friend...

What to get in d20's last gasp?

Yes. There were several hundred copies sold. Most people I know hang onto their dog-eared backpack-battered dead leaf version though. Good luck. (You might try following the links on this page to see if there's a LULU option or something: Blue Devil Games )

    That was close

Glad your wife is okay. Sounds like an error at the traffic cop level. (Might have been a permissive user.) If you need any help navigating the insurance maze, I'm an adjuster. Happy to help if I can.

Nov RPG Book Club: City of Brass

I have it. I've read it thoroughly. I used it for inspiration in two games. One got close to the City (and if there's an ENWorld GameDay soon I may run a sequel in the city). The other I pulled some ideas from for an encounter that never happened since the players went a different way. I...

    Cross-gender PCs

I find that many of my female players like playing male characters. So why limit it for the male players?

    Kobold Quarterly #7

Really? I would think that a tad unlikely. The subscription works great for me. Okay, Issue #7. The cover is gorgeous and sexy at the same time. Atypical too for fantasy art. Liked it a lot. Spells of the Gun? Pretty cool. I think barrier cloth will have some of the same problem as favor of...

Was Reading My Mentzer Expert Rules and What did I see?

I think that's more like a chainmail skort and crop top. Still sexy though, in a weird, barnyard-animal humanoid kinda way.

Ratio of wizards in a population?

I answered this question for myself once. I assigned an arbitrary number of wizards in the population (which I think was around a .01% of a million - it wasn't a D&D world) and then I started giving them names and levels. I only had to figure out 107 names. Worked out well. In a D&D world, looks...

On Whether to Get the GF Involved or Not

This is actually the Little Green Monster (aka jealousy), or as another poster put it, a failure to communicate maturely. However, it is one of the reasons I now roll my dice in the open many years later. On the topic at hand? I never thought of it as "guy's night out" because all through...

Does your party have a cook?

Picture and the description! Good stuff. We have a halfling in our group. Yep. He can cook. He can cook really well. Then, when we get into a fight, he somehow ignores the spices and just looks at our enemies. They get burned, electrocuted, frozen, held in place, or just run away in terror...
