    Leaving ENworld at last

It sounds like you have reasons to move on in your life. Good luck!

What is it about the GSL that is really a deal breaker?

Oh? You sound like a lawyer. (I am not, but I pay them and read legal materials all the time.) May I suggest that this is a dangerous statement for anyone engaged in the practice of law to make? I have seen court after court in state after state issue orders in direct contravention of black...

The fate of the Advanced Player's Guide

Congratulations! I didn't see this. Apologies if I missed it. Will this be pdf-only, Lulu (or other PoD vendor), softcover, hardcover or printed on leaves from Borneo? :D

    Most iconic non-fantasy adventures?

Big Rubble, for Runequest (although that might have been a supplement with a different name? Pavis? we played in it - I didn't own it). second Island of Dr. Destroyer for Champions.

Need a date for the ENnies? DREAM DATE AUCTIONS!

Maybe because it's "dinner with Goodman Games" which implies that it might not be Goodman himself. Gamers being paranoid might speculate that it in fact means two distant relatives in t-shirts who help out on big shipping days who were told "free dinner -just hang out with these guys". Okay...

Necromancer Games NOT going with current GSL.

Same here (different circumstances). I saw the ads for the boxed set in 1980, and got stuff for Christmas.

Why the RPG hobby is an awesome one

Well put. Game designers are indeed human, even to the point sometimes of behaving like the worst of human beings and not the best. However, as fans we have more access to them than Joe and Jane Somebody.

    Moving Terrain?

Yep! One of my favorites was an inward pointing force field. The players crossed the outer rim, and accidentally triggered it. Then they saw the giant statue of a strange bird with violet eyes. Violet eyes projecting two beams of force - one that blocked their way forward, and the other that...

[Board Games] Carcassonne add-ons that decrease its nastiness?

Yes. There are a few other rules "incentives" in that set that also get folks to play a bit more cooperatively. With Princess and the Dragon, you actually can play cooperatively to manuever the Dragon away from other players. Carcassonne is a bit competitive no matter what though. Might I...

What do you expect from a free product vs one you pay for?

Art and production values. A secondary benefit (though a huge draw in the market) is a good designer's name associated with the product.

    Taking a Break

Should I be sad or glad at the huge level of irony inherent in a raging argument like the one that this thread has become due to someone declaring an honest opinion?

    Taking a Break

I think this is becoming it's own thread topic isn't it? However, on the topic at hand, you seem to be saying "computer play provides a seamless experience that lets you go anywhere within the game world because it's already programmed in and that's better". I think that there's a lot that...

    Simple RPGA Question.

Yep. Once upon a time, it even had its own little magazine, a cool black and white concoction called Polyhedron. I think it worked admirably well for its time. It didn't work well as a merger with Dungeon, of course. Too bad.

Yep. I look forward to retiring and everyone having better schedules. ;)

    Taking a Break

Interesting point that perhaps some of us old-timers and casual posters are feeling left out because there are a lot of new kids on the block.

Akashic: Need ideas for new abilities.

How about a 1/day Greater Akashic Ability that lets you summon up great moments of great heroes. It allows the akashic access to any class ability for one round, no prerequisites needed. It doesn't grant spells though.

What have you been cooking recently?

Oh wow! Good thread idea. Yes, I've been experimenting. Tonight I sauteed organic white local onions (I'm in Connecticut USA) with some green peppers, canola oil, and thyme. The thyme was kinda the key new ingredient. Just before I finished, I added a dash of olive oil to bring out some flavors...

    Taking a Break

Here's where it's tough to draw observations based on the internet. Knowing Jay in person, I can say that he's the most laid back guy in history. (Okay, maybe not all history, but recent history.) I'm still hanging around, but Jay's observations are spot on.

    Making trouble for a womaniser

As I read p.1 of the thread, I was wondering why no one suggested the out of game option. I agree, if you're going to go this route. Essentially, the issue is robbing other PCs of spotlight time with an activity that really benefits few people. Especially when it's repetitive.
