Explain the appeal of critical fumbles to me

Against the wrong opponent, an AoO could hurt. Hmm.

Success of a Confessions of a Part-Time Sorceress

Liked 'em all so far. Very refreshing change from yet another article on how to maxi-munchkinize your PC. ;) May recommend the book to a couple female friends who don't play D&D.

    Ghoulish alternatives

The Ghoul Shakes are cool. I think the penalties are very high. PCs will be scared enough by losing -2 Dex and 10 feet of movement to every failed save. Especially if you make it a Will save.... Alternate ghoul abilities are a good idea. :D

    Kobold Quarterly #3 has arrived

Whew. I'm still reading through my copy. I am deliriously happy that I bought in from day one as a subscriber. I'm writing a review, but here's a couple things already. This kind of magic just doesn't happen every day. I feel like I did reading Dragon when I was a younger fella. (Now I just...

have 3rd parties gotten the srd yet?

Just wait five years. The glut of new 4E releases will all be remarkably cheap....

Explain the appeal of critical fumbles to me

They entertain me. The DM. They annoy the hell out of players if the penalty is minor (throw your sword, stumble, etc.) I like them as long as you can't actually damage valuable equipment or your PC or other PCs.

    D&D 4E 4e and Product Identity

Tieflings might be open content, but I won't be surprised to see some sort of new IP name for them all the same.

    Final 11 besides Eberron

Interesting. By coincidence I shared a limo with Gary Pratt departing Gen Con 2005. (I think.) Code of Unaris had evolved into an online deal, the first chat room RPG I think. Won some awards. Don't hear much about it now.

    Monster Ghetto

Sure! (Assuming you were within reasonable driving distance and I had free time, which are caveats to any game. :) )

    Monster Ghetto

With the Three Laws of Constructs, you'd be all set for some really interesting plots.

Chainmail Bikinis & other Cheesecake art in the 4th Edition Core Books.

I think Claudio's Image #2 and #3 hit it just right for a D&D product. I love Image #1 the most of course because I have that all-important male XY gene pairing and the classic response to visual stimuli.

Great Fantasy Cities (and what makes them so awesome)

Oops! :o I should have remembered that. Thank you for the correction DragonBelow.

    Gaming in a high-trust environment

Well put. IMO, High Trust must coincide with style. I've seen groups that love to do power gaming. They delve so deep into the rules because they want to make up more powerful characters. The DM goes along with it. So it could be said that they have a high trust, rules heavy environment...

Vile Darkness as an official resource

Doesn't look like it's an official player resource to me, based upon that quote. Emphasis added.

Great Fantasy Cities (and what makes them so awesome)

Correct. Only 1000 copies printed. It's still available as a (massive) pdf download though.

    Heroic Classes

Although I thought the new edition was supposed to reduce complexity, not increase it? The paths sound sensible in that they aren't Prestige Classes, they just add on, and all at the same time. (In theory reducing cherry picking for abilities.) However, if everyone gets one, then yes, later...

Great Fantasy Cities (and what makes them so awesome)

Second Lhankmar, Manifest and Sigil. (Now that I've heard about Penance, I'm intrigued.) I'm going to nod to City State of the Invincible Overlord, but I don't have the current version yet (I so want it!). Ptolus, the City Beneath the Spire: Here's a city where the D&D world lives and breathes...

    D&D Modules on Wikipedia

Personally, I like wikipedia as a nice, online, free source of information to start delving deeper into other topics. That said, I find it strange that many large articles tend to be about pop culture and not some of the subjects that I would like more detail on. So be it.
