    D&D 3.x 3.5e Publishing Models in a 4e world

Even then, you're looking at the "progress" of 4E for the next year or so as groups try it out, adjust their campaigns or start new ones, and put in some real gametime into 4E before making a final decision. There's also the matter of publishers/players picking aspects of the game that scream...

Are Any Publishers Planning to Continue Support For 3.5?

We'll be releasing some 3.5 material as well, mostly quick-start adventures to preview new 4E material for next year.

The Tome of Time (A second book of magic)

Count me in for the editing and I'll see what playtesting I can do, but can't promise much right now unless I fit it in with the playtesting I'm already doing for other projects.

The Book of Alignment and the Gem of True Seeing

Even if it doesn't seem to match your own views on alignment, the Book was intended to at least open up discussion and debate on the impact of alignment in the game as something more than just morale guidelines and let players take a look at each of the aspects from a different point of view...

The Book of Alignment and the Gem of True Seeing

The Book of Alignment Demo Here's the link for the demo, which is the full introduction and material from the Gem of True Seeing layer in the Intro. It covers the material to be discussed, concept of the Book, and general viewpoints of alignment as a whole in the campaign.

The Book of Alignment and the Gem of True Seeing

164 pages, including front and back cover. The PDF is completely bookmarked and includes a table of contents. You can also print out the entire PDF by turning off the background layer on the PDF and it eliminates the ancient page image. The preview options aren't working at the moment and OBS...

The Book of Alignment and the Gem of True Seeing

There is more than what you believe… Every day, Heroes and Villains live out their lives in pursuit of the ultimate goal. Saving innocent lives, conquering the world, gaining power, or spreading the word of a divine being - all of them are quintessential means to an end. They are defined by the...

The Tome of Time (A second book of magic)

A 4th Edition OGL/SRD has been mentioned, but nothing has actually be announced by Wizards themselves that I've seen. Not that I doubt it to be fact, but I always wait until something official is released before making any concrete decisions. From what little I have seen, I don't think...

The Tome of Time (A second book of magic)

ALWAYS finish what you started unless it doesn't work anymore. Besides, if you wait until 4E to put this together again, you'll have to wait until the new rules come out, then how you're going to piece them together. And since you plan on it taking a year already with 3E material, then who...

    Evil Deities & Their Followers

Once again, that's where base fantasy comes into play and the use of stereotypical bad guys make D&D, in it's original format, very black-and-white. In all honesty, there's nothing to say that smaller conclaves can't exist within cities and are basically ignored (but heavily monitored) by the...

Elucidating Alignment - Part I: Law and Chaos

Nice effort and a good concept of Law, Chaos, and Neutrality (especially since they're more ignored than Good and Evil). The biggest problem in tackling alignment at all (and the reason why you'll never see an officially expanded version) is that it's so interpretational, it's impossible to...

    Evil Deities & Their Followers

But these churches are not supported in a free, open environment and are treated LIKE terrorist cells. If clerics of Cryic, Shar, and all the others were allowed to practise in the open, then this discussion would never happen, but they can't because of the danger the general population...

    Evil Deities & Their Followers

For the same reason that terrorist cells are not allowed to operate in the US when discovered - their purpose is seen as opposing and counter to those of the dominant belief and they practise things such as death and destruction against Americans. Even if you could prove that terrorists were...

    Would this be evil?

By evil, I meant that it deals with evil by stopping bad guys. I do use alignments as cosmic forces and the idea of having one in the bunch sitting back and just taking credit for anything the others don't speak up for doesn't seem right. And boring. It's an active pursuit of maintaining...

    Would this be evil?

Typically, maybe, but in a game where the planes are formed on the foundation of alignments, it is possible for someone to actively pursue neutrality. If a character chooses to right a wrong against an individual in a way that redeems the victim and punishes the guilty, it covers the entire...

    Would this be evil?

Definitely not evil. There's no gain or thrill in it for them and they're not doing it for the sheer pleasure of watching them suffer - the PCs are inspired to teach these thugs a lesson. While it may not be as lawful as some other characters, it's definitely good or neutral at best.

    Evil Deities & Their Followers

That's something to think about. How to Cyric, Bane, Shar, and the others actually present themselves to their followers. What we read is the "good" view from on high, looking down at these religions with disdain, but it doesn't seem likely that Bane's clerics preach to the masses the same way...

    Evil Deities & Their Followers

Even then, D&D should be replaced with "popular fantasy." I find everything out there passing as fantasy tends to be black-and-white and this keeps the outsider's view of the genre as a kid's tale. Nice and simple, good guys and bad guys. Which means boring. And if D&D has a cartoon and two...

    Evil Deities & Their Followers

Hmm, maybe "traditional fantasy" doesn't work this way, but there is and can be fantasy worlds that exist with truly deep, emotional characters walking a blurred line of good and evil. While I haven't read much, LOTR stands out because while the major baddie is truly evil, his influence through...
