    D&D 4E Druids in 4E

Heh. I'm willing to give WotC as much time as they need to put out a druid that doesn't break my head when players run them. That means changing entangle and some of the summoning rules. Druids require me to keep track of 10-20 more die rolls than I would normally have to manage.

What's the rationale behind non-crittable monsters again?

I'm going to steal this and use it in my game. Great idea. The two years I've played at D&D Game Day, there have been undead which effectively rendered the rogues useless.

D&D 4E Desert of Desolation Minis... 4E preview thoughts

One of my favorite sets so far. The Umber Hulk, Feral Troll, and Ogre Brute are awesome. I love the Snaketongue Cultist and the Farmer too. All of these will get a lot of use in my games.

Is World of Warcraft creating a desire for more role-playing in D&D?

I play computer games and D&D Miniatures to whack stuff. I play RPGs to play a dramatic character in an action-oriented world. The way that 4e is being simplified, the more opportunity I see for role-playing instead of flipping through rulebooks looking for rules, modifiers, etc. IMO, the...

How does striking an opponent heal your allies?

I guess my major question here is: will the 4e rules allow me to EASILY customize my D&D game for different settings, or will it take a lot of work and system restructuring? Will I be able to run a "A Game of Thrones" type of game using 4e with slight adjustments, or will that require major...

How does striking an opponent heal your allies?

If all of these rumors are true, I hope they justify it well. Your explanation works for me; I hope they really get behind something similarly sensible and not "A bright flash of white light explodes around the party as you strike the orc. Your party is HEALED!" That would be incredibly...

    One new setting a year?

Interesting thought. Although if it's campaign world settings they're putting out, they could easily produce a Planescape setting based on The Great Wheel and make a lot of people very happy. It wouldn't be the default setting, but it would present a 4e campaign world idea that would sell...

    One new setting a year?

I think the marriage of good game mechanics and good story could make single-volume settings doable. What wouldn't work: "This is where the elves live in my world." What would work: "Everybody has a daemon. Check out the mechanics that make that cool." Um... please don't interpret those...

How Come There Is No "Wish" Spell?

Short of actually statting it out... I might rule that a freed genie is bound to grant three wishes to the creature that freed it. The genie would also be bound to warn the receiver that the greater his ambition/greed, the lesser would be his happiness upon receiving his wish (hence the old...

How Come There Is No "Wish" Spell?

You could make a career out of explaining that to people who play D&D. Good luck.

How Come There Is No "Wish" Spell?

Preach it. While it's a "traditional" part of D&D, it's ridiculous how common it is. Aragorn: Alas, Frodo is dead. Gandalf: No problem. (casts Raise Dead) Frodo: Alright, where were we? Gandalf: Getting the ring to Mordor. Frodo: Right. Let's get going, shall we? I figure that since neither...

How Come There Is No "Wish" Spell?

I'd rather see a dozen powerful high level spells that accomplish specific effects than one multipurpose "bend reality" spell that can (supposedly) accomplish anything you can imagine, but really can't.

    Blood Road: New Dungeon Article

I like what I'm reading. Mostly, I like it because it looks like my adventure notes. Once again, 4e seems to be moving towards my homebrew; this makes me happy. The thing about this is, each character and the character's motives are outlined, as well as what their possible responses would...

D&D 5E (2014) Who Will be The Next Monte...

"I may not be smarter than a fifth-grader, but I can kick one's ass." -Mike Mearls, Nov. 2nd D&D Podcast- That quote alone should be enough for the free world to revere Mearls.

    D&D 3.x J Tweets 3ed BANE

Just listened to the new podcast. It seems as though Logan Bonner's gnome warlock has Teleport, but it's limited to the battlefield (like the Osyluth I got yesterday in my Desert of Desolation pack, which teleports anywhere within 6 squares as a swift action). Regarding 3e teleport, I think...

    D&D 3.x J Tweets 3ed BANE

This is exactly the combo I'm referring to. The thing is, the party using this combo is 10th level (two teleports) or even 9th level if you're using spell points. Is 9th and 10th level "high level play?" I'm not criticizing, I'm asking. I agree that there are simple ways to foil players who...

Same. I went to Iron Heroes. Also hoping Teleport (aka "Avoid Adventure") & Scry (aka "Avoid Plot") will be modified in 4e. Once spellcasters get those spells, the game changes. The DM has to write adventures differently and include dozens of safeguards or else a smart wizard PC will walk all...

So which Desert of Desolation Monster isn't in the Monster Manual I?

I'm guessing that with the greying of alignment, there might not be anything in the monster manual that you are not supposed to fight. I think the Capricious Copper Dragon is a testament to that. Angels may be the adversaries of devils, but who's to say the devils weren't right? ;-)

    Design and Development: Cosmology

Seconded! Thus far the only 4e thing that has made me cringe.
