Should I do a story hour?

I personally am thinking of doing a story hour, and have some of the same hesitation that you do. My solution? I'm writing it, but not posting it yet. It's a long adventure, and I want to be sure this group is actually going to stay together long enough to finish. Then I want to read what I...

    Recommended D&D Products

Well, since I don't know anything about your tastes, I can give you a list of 10 that I think have the highest Generic Utility, but just about anybody who posts on these boards will likely point out at least one that they personally have absolutely no use for ... if I had to list my own faves...

    Silly Monsters

I fully understand that Modrons can be dangerous. So are the halberd-weilding cows on the hidden level in Diablo. Doesn't make them any less silly. Now mephits? They're designed as comic relief, and well designed, so it works. Modrons are just dumb.

    Lankhmar

It's been a while since I've read 'em, but didn't our heroes meet some Ice Gnomes when they climbed Stardock? I'd have to be a bit harder on "Swords Against the Shadowlands". As in, "I wish I'd never read that."

    Silly Monsters

If there's a way to introduce Modrons into a scenario without the whole thing suddenly looking completely asinine, I don't know what it is.

    Arcana unearthed Vs. Unearthed Arcana

Actually, Diaglo, when you start approaching the speed of light one of the more notable effects is time dialation. It causes time to go slower for you. Go fast enough, and while everyone else lives out 3 decades, you might only notice, oh, say, 3 years. From what I gather, you like it that...

    Silly prestige classes.

Add me to the list of those defending the Oozemaster! In 2e, I always wanted to start an emnity between some PCs and a group of specialty priests of Juiblex. How could I not grin when I saw the Oozemaster, then??

    Let's ban Teleport!

This is one I'm very much undecided on. I share all the misgivings Thanee has expressed ... but I'm just too familiar with enough teleportation magic in myth and fiction that I like to want to just bag it. Coincidentally, at the moment, I'm DMing an adventure that currently has the newly 9th...

What's the best looking HUGE D&D miniature?

I have the Nightwalker, and when I went to buy another set, my FLGS was out so it's the only one I've got. It's gotta be the least of the set, though. It's practically only one color, and is a very basic humanoid shape. Not much to make it interesting.

manual of the Planes vs. the new Plannar Handbook.

The divine agent is weak? That's an honest inquiry, not an objection. I haven't played it, but I've long thought that looked like one of the most potentially fun PrCs. Have you played, and if so, where's the power lack most painful?

manual of the Planes vs. the new Plannar Handbook.

Well, the new book claims to be a Player's resource, and it certainly is in places. But there are some extensive descriptions of various planar locations (many of which are very interesting, and as a group definately a good starting point for inspiring your own) that look like DM material to...

Grues, Burnination, and Gnomelings: What Humorous Sources Have You Used Stuff From?

Umm, Captain Ultra in the same group with "The Flame"? Cap didn't get much done then ... that's like putting Superman in the Justice League and then letting Kryptonite Kid join!

History can be fun... chapter 2

I forget the author's name, but there's a book about Holmes; I think the title is "Depraved" ... and it's an apt description. It's one of those deals where if it were fiction, you'd roll your eyes at how unbelievable it is. The book is also written in a very lurid, "guilty pleasure" writing...

    d6 the future of d20?

Didn't WEG do two different d6 systems? I picked up the original Star Wars rulebook, and found it really interesting on a read-it-but-never-got-to-play-it basis. (So I've found the comments on this thread very interesting, too) Then when Mayfair's license with DC comics ended, there was a d6...

    D20 'philosophy' cramping my style

Y'know, I very much doubt if I personally would catch a detail as small as giving an imp an extra 4 skill points ... though I'm with the people who think that if one has rules, they're there to be used. Which is why, if I did catch the anomaly as I was preparing to use the adventure, I'd just...

    Anyone play with alternative dice?

I'd be happy to have one of the Gamescience d5s as a curiosity, like my d30, but not at 5 bucks. And if I need a d5 for gaming, I'll use the same method I use for my d4s that I prefer the caltrop design and my d3s: use the d(x2) and repeat all the numbers on the second half of the faces.

Your favorite bands as adventuring parties.

Kate Bush: Bard/Witch/Witch Preistess (see Green Ronin's Witch's Handbook for the second two) ... maybe I'll edit this later when I think of some of the spells she'd have.

    New to D&D (starting group)

In addition to agreeing with Nyarlathotep (oh, I love that out of context ...), I'd add that one more reason to wait until you have core rule proficiency before going to supplemental material is that, while I can name several products that I think are great, but if a person isn't a fan of that...

An undead invasion topples civilization, then what?

Okay, two guys beat me with that info ... must read whole thread before I post, sorry.

An undead invasion topples civilization, then what?

BTW-I have "Legion" around here somewhere, I'll post its real name as soon as I stumble across it. For all of you comic-philes out there, it was released in comic book form, so if the plotline rings a bell, chime on in! Could the real name be "I am Legend"? I ask this because that's the name...
