    Given that I like X, it's strange that I never play Y

I was recently playing a flash-based rpg, and noticed that once again I have a marked preference for a particular combination of mechanical abilities: - high hit points - good defenses - strong attacks, ideally melee - healing (for self and allies) - buffing (for self and allies) ...and yet...

I don't get the dislike of healing surges

Healing surges are reserve hit points. They just come in discrete packages and can sometimes be triggered during combat. -blarg

    Post Apocalyptic RPGS?

I think the reason there's no one dominant post-apoc game is pretty simple: each setting is mainly defined by the nature of the world and how it was changed by the apocalypse. Post-nuke real earth is vastly different than post-zombiepalooza Dragonlance.

    Whining & Complaining

The only name we pitched was Tomorrow's Hummingbird. Sure, the process we took to get there was a regression from Millenium Falcon (Century Pigeon, Annual Sparrow), but not one of those names was ever proposed to you. We didn't even mention them to you until you summarily shot and killed...

I need help statting up The Grieving Tree

To my surprise, the players in my 3.5 Eberron campaign just accidentally activated (and attracted the attention of) a Dhakaani grieving tree. It's the same kind of artifact found in Don Bassingthwaite's eponymous novel. ...but I have no stats for it. Help, please? -blarg

    Monsters left on 1HP?

It happens with greatest frequency when the monster's hit points are a multiple of the party's average damage -1. (ie. if the monster has 30 hp and the party does 29 damage on average, then landing at 1 hp will be the most common occurence.)
