    Its almost too sane... lol

    D&D 5E (2014) Lich's To Weak for Their CR?

This is the problem though. A lich is a tough undead that the PCs expect to have an epic battle with. Sure you can tart the encounter up with minions and puzzles and whatever else, but eventually the lich has to go toe to toe with the PCs and if the party walks all over the undead equivalent of...

    D&D 5E (2014) Quasi Magical Nukes?

It kinda depends on what you what the nuke to do. Is it a wooden building destroyer? 20d10 damage, no save. Is it a city destroyer? 200d10. Is it a nation/continent/planet destroyer? 2000d10+ baby! I don't think its necessary to model it further than that. Everything else is just special effects.

    D&D 5E (2014) Lich's To Weak for Their CR?

The phylactery in and of itself doesn't make the Lich tougher in a fight. In fact, its basically a way to farm to Lich for XP... Now if, for example, the phylactery worked Like this "Phylactery: Until the phylactery is destroyed, the Lich regains any HP lost at the start of its turn." Now that...

D&D 5E (2014) How much Forgotten Realms have you used in your games?

The Sword Coast mostly. One campaign based in Yartar/Silverymoon. Current campaign in Daggerford. Empires of Intrigue. One campaign based in a homebrew realms where Amn had developed firearms, then went stomping around the south taking over Tethyr and Calimshan. Unapproachable East. One campaign...

D&D 5E (2014) How would you handle raising dead on a PC that didn't believe in the gods?

I did kind of regret my ruling after I made it because he's a good tank and he thinks tactically. Whereas some of the others in the group don't even know what their classes do, let alone think tactically. Its all good though. His new guy is a Moon Druid.

D&D 5E (2014) Twist. Just DM enjoyment or OK for Players?

Sounds cool. I would consider this indulgent if you cheesed it so either: the PCs can't ever find out he's a vampire lord because you start making ever more elaborate excuses to protect your favourite NPC, or the PCs find out but can't kill him because he has "indestructible shields" or other...

D&D 5E (2014) How would you handle raising dead on a PC that didn't believe in the gods?

Yeah I guess that's probably true. Dibs on his soul and all that.

D&D 5E (2014) How would you handle raising dead on a PC that didn't believe in the gods?

A warlock can have a patron AND a faith. Warlocks aren't exclusive with their patron. They can see other entities. The only time it isn't going to work is if the warlocks patron is "The Guy Who Burns Down Trees" and the god they worship is "Treeguy".

D&D 5E (2014) How would you handle raising dead on a PC that didn't believe in the gods?

Yeah, I guess that's why I posted this. On one hand, I'm not sure I like idea that the gods just "rubber stamp" all their followers requests. On the other, I'm not sure they'd care about the faith of one miscellaneous mortal either. Plus, its a bit micromanagey for me.

D&D 5E (2014) How would you handle raising dead on a PC that didn't believe in the gods?

In the last session of our Faerun campaign, one of the tanks died fighting a death knight. They don't have a cleric in the party but they reasoned they were close to a capital city so they'd go find a temple and get him raised in the next session. In the interim I noticed he didn't have a faith...

D&D 5E (2014) Ranged Attacks in Close Combat

Yes, it's possible because it's also possible in real life.

D&D 5E (2014) How hard is it to accidentally have a TPK?

I ran a death knight and 2 red wizards against my 5-man 10th level party in the last session (thats 2 or 3 times past "deadly" by the way). They were fresh. One died, three were down and on their 2nd and 3rd death saves. The handcrossbow ranger saved the day but it could've just as easily been a...

    D&D 5E (2014) IDEA: Actually bounded accuracy

I think you need to establish what your baseline is first. Assigning arbitrary boundaires without knowing your baseline is not a good idea. For example, if you set your max attack bonus as +9 and you want to regularly throw AC26 monsters against your party, they are not going to have a fun time.

    D&D 5E (2014) Multiclassing: A pathological extreme

True, thats probably a bit harsh. Its not like a novelty character built on random criteria like "only adding casses that begin with r" or "adding classes in alphabetical order". Oh wait, lol. :) I guess my question is, yes you could play this character, but should you? Or would it be the kind...

    D&D 5E (2014) Is looking in the books O.K

No, really not cool. Ask him to stop. If he doesn't, stop the game. You're not required to let him blatantly cheat at the table.

    D&D 5E (2014) Multiclassing: A pathological extreme

I'm gonna vote "playable, but your team will hate you". Your companions will be throwing 6th level spells and multiple attacks with ss or gwm. At that point, your guy is dead weight.

    D&D 5E (2014) Hidding questions

    1) Yes, if they have total cover/concealment. Some characters can hide in different circumstances, e.g. wood elves and skulkers 2) They only get the benefit if they can remain hidden up to the point they attack, i.e. if they can sneak around a table to their target, or they can attack from their...

D&D 5E (2014) The importance to "story" of contrivance

I don't know about that. I think a lot of what we call coincedence in real life is the result of statistical probability (e.g. if we're both in london and we both like jazz and we both like going out, its unlikely but not impossible that we both might end up at Scotties) and/or actual...
