    D&D 5E (2014) Caster feats

Ohhh, now you're talkin! I like it! :) Whats the focus of this build - casting or melee? I'm just trying to imagine what it would be doing round to round.

    D&D 5E (2014) Cloud of Daggers - magical damage ?

Ah, so a cloud of daggers made of 100% NON-magic would be counted as a non-magical source of damage? What would we call that? Non-magic? Normal magic? Unmagic?

    D&D 5E (2014) Cloud of Daggers - magical damage ?

Yes, its totally magic. Its a magic cloud. Of daggers.

    D&D 5E (2014) Caster feats

Good suggestions, cheers guys. I might actually grab Resilient, then Spellsniper. Our DM doesn't usually focus on Concentration but does remember cover in melee.

    D&D 5E (2014) Aboleth adventure for lvl 1-10 - my setup.

It kinda seems like you're gonna be railroading the PCs a lot, or explaining away things (like why everyone carries explanatory incriminating notes on their person). For example, in the first scene the Deep One cultists fake a battle scene. Or its a real battle scene and they dress the dead...

    D&D 5E (2014) Caster feats

I'm building an abjurer wiz for our new party and I was going to make him variant human for the feat headstart but there doesn't seem like there's any must-haves for casters. War Caster and Spell Sniper are the only ones that seem any good, and they don't jump out at me in the same way that...

    D&D 5E (2014) How do Vampires Exist?

Ikr, one moment you're trying to make their last moments on earth a really nice experience, the next they're spurting blood all over your sofa.

    D&D 5E (2014) Strength is agile

Yeah... not convinced in the slightest. I can't picture this guy in Circ du Soleil or Bolshoi Ballet or doing parkour. All of which require grace, flexibility, fitness and DEXTERITY. He just has way too much muscle mass for any of that to be practical.

    D&D 5E (2014) Strength is agile

Ha, so true. A great example is actually climbing. I went to a climbing wall with my gf a while ago. She thought I'd be awesome at it because I was strong. Granted, the leg strength helped in parts but mostly I found it hard going whereas she found it easy. Less mass, better overall fitness...

    D&D 5E (2014) Strength is agile

No it isn't. None of the images are of actual body-builders. Those guys can hardly walk, let alone do parkour. Take this guy for example. He'd make a great dwarf. I really can't see him in circ du soleil. https://www.rdegges.com/static/images/2011/jay-cutler.png

    D&D 5E (2014) Help creating a tough defender

Disadvantage is definitely important but if a 20 hits you, you're still getting critted. My AC at level 4 was 20 or 21, which is pretty decent for that level, but not enough to mitigate crits from wraiths (+6 attack bonus), even with disadvantage. And this absolutely isn't a problem if you're...

    D&D 5E (2014) Help creating a tough defender

I created a 5e dorf battle master tank build on the charop forums: http://www.enworld.org/forum/showthread.php?375677-5e-The-Dreadnought-Mountain-Dwarf-Battle-Master-Tank He was pretty tanky for level-appropriate fights but did have a few problems maintaining aggro (we didn't use the marking...

    D&D 5E (2014) World-Building DMs

I think you're making it too hard OP. If you say "The setting is a grim and gritty post-apocalyptic, sci-fi wasteland" and the players make, I dunno... "magical anime schoolgirls" then you either failed to communicate the genre and tone you were going for, the players are idiots or the players...

D&D 5E (2014) Are players always entitled to see their own rolls?

Nah, always get them to make their own checks. If you want to create uncertainty about whether someone is a villain or not, occasionally ask them what x skill is and do a little mime of looking at your adventure and calculating something in your head, or ask them to make a random social roll for...

D&D 5E (2014) Escapist article on SCAG is Brutal.

Oh god, I was looking at this thinking "Why do sea trolls get a whole book?!" lol I'd agree with that review. Setting books can be a chance to try out new, exciting mechanics to improve or reinvigorate classes but so often the FR books just fall back on pure conversion of old stuff to new...

D&D 5E (2014) Refusing To Heal Party Members?

Heh this sounds like a rehash from the DnD Online forums "clerics are better off using spellpoints offensively rather than healing" which was largely true (except in raids). For PnP, there are no penalties until you get to zero anyway so its better to attack unless its an absolute emergency. If...

    Healing Cantrip

Bleh, too complex. Just make it 1hp per casting, or 3 with Life domain. Who care if it gives unlimited healing. Its basically out of combat healing anyway.

D&D 5E (2014) The Village of Forest green - free resource

I like it, particularly like the "things he/she might say". The presence of high level NPCs might eclipse the PCs though. If Jaddith for example, does nothing in a low level orc attack on the village, then they find out he's megatough in a later adventure, the conversation will go something...

Unearthed Arcana Unearthed Arcana: Another New Ranger Variant

Yeah, I agree. This is actually kind of interesting... but just with quick scribbling, ftr20 still seems superior (4 attacks a round and one AS round of 8) to rgr1/ftr19 (3 attacks a round, 6 at the start of every encounter and one AS round of 6). A one-level dip (or 5) would seem more...
