    D&D 5E (2014) Atheism in DnD

That might be true but really depends on how your ecology works. Do mortals affect/reflect the gods or do gods affect/reflect mortals? Is it a symbiotic or a parasitic relationship? Does it change over time? In FR at least, I thought the gods power was directly related to their worshippers?

    D&D 5E (2014) Atheism in DnD

He wants to say the gods do not exist. He hasn't really specified how he's going to do that, and given the evidence that they do exist he's probably going to use the "they're just powerful beings" strategy. He's playing a wizard too, so I can conceivably see how he'd argue that being an arcane...

    D&D 5E (2014) Atheism in DnD

That is true, in fact denial by itself might be powerful enough. "You don't see the 10 foot glowing avatar of Mystra in front of you?" "Nope, what are you talking about?"

    D&D 5E (2014) Atheism in DnD

In my head Crocodile Dundee said that. :-) Makes sense though. He hasn't specified exactly how he's going to portray it. I half suspect he's gonna drop the "one true god" line at some stage, which would be cool. Might be getting a bit too realsies for the others though.

    D&D 5E (2014) Atheism in DnD

Given his sense of humor, he's probably using this as a way to meet the directives of his RL religion and make an amusing statement about the fantasy one to see what I do, lol. We've had robust and hilarious conversations about it in the past, so its all in good fun. I think I'll just let him...

    D&D 5E (2014) Atheism in DnD

I'm working on a pantheon for my new campaign and one of my players asked if a deity is mandatory and could he be atheist. He's Christian IRL so it's an interesting response. Do you think its possible to be an professed atheist in a setting where there are clerics running around? You don't...

    D&D 5E (2014) team-building quest

Interesting idea. IME, desperation and common jeopardy are the best ways to build team work. It's easy to be a lone wolf when the challenge is easy enough that you don't need to cooperate. Its also easy to be generous when you've got nothing to lose personally. How about a challenge where they...

    D&D 5E (2014) Let's Tweak the 5E Ranger!

I like the redesign OP. Also, I liked that you resisted the urge to keep the extra attack, on top of Mark. Haven't read the sub-classes yet. 3 observations: Mark. Cool and I like the favored enemy tweak, but 2 uses/short rest at 9 and 3 uses/short rest at 14 is too strong. For comparison...

    D&D 5E (2014) Let's Tweak the 5E Ranger!

That is a pretty cool ranger design OP. Usually when people post things like this, you take one look at the abilities and lol. I will continue reading and post a more in depth review later.

    D&D 5E (2014) The word ‘Race’

You've gotta remember you're playing (and the DM is playing) fictional characters in a fictional world. If the DM has a racist :):):):):):):) NPC, it doesn't mean the DM is racist, he's probably setting that NPC up to be a villain.

D&D 5E (2014) Obligation to give new players a "Core" game?

Nah, I say go for it. I would let them know ahead of time the setting, tone, genre you're going for and maybe give them some shows, movies, books or games so they know the imagery and mood you're trying to evoke. That way if it's not their cup of tea they can decline without disappointment on...

    D&D 5E (2014) Famous last words

In an old campaign, the party took a goblin prisoner and I figured they were going to kill him once they had the information they wanted, so I decided the goblin was gonna kill them first... with kindness. It failed of course and they killed him anyway but as he died I had the goblin...

    D&D 5E (2014) Light Cleric

Max wis/con, dump everything else. Since you're a hill dwarf you could probably get away with having a slightly lower con and put the points in something else instead.

D&D 5E (2014) The good, bad, and ugly of the Wish spell

I'm happy for one-off wishes to be a lot more powerful than the spell but simpler wishes always work better. The more complex the wish, the bigger the chance I'm gonna screw with it.

    D&D 5E (2014) Rarity: Winged Boots v Boots of Levitation - Huh?

Write a couple of paragraphs as a guideline, get them to follow that and run it past you before it gets into play. Easy. I know you want a system that runs without your intervention but an "official" crafting system won't necessarily be better or more balanced than yours.

D&D 5E (2014) Campaign Settings 5e- Why I want to Forget the Realms

I don't know why you hate FR so much but I can tell you why I hate it. It's a kitchen sink hodge-podge of settings all mashed together without a credible history or coherent theme. The other settings you mention all have consistency or a theme to them (maybe not Greyhawk, don't know much about...

D&D Movie/TV What would a good D&D movie be like?

I realised after I wrote that it might've seemed I was having a go at you specifically. I didn't intend that, so apologies Danny. Diversity in our media is always a good thing and any offensive caricatures of real-world racial stereotypes should be avoided (Star Wars, Transformers, Cloud Atlas...
