D&D 5E (2014) The Thousand Disciples of Shefu Daylong

Is his nemesis Snafu Shortnight? Sorry, couldn't resist lol.

D&D 5E (2014) So long and thanks for all the fish!

This is kinda harsh, but also true. Sometimes people don't respond or they don't immediately know how to respond to the post. I know I sometimes ponder a post for hours before I reply. Enworld isn't an instant gratification channel.

D&D 5E (2014) Clerics vs Druids in an Animist Setting

Disagreeing on the appearance or name or creation myth is enough to differentiate the faiths, even if they are exactly the same underneath. The powerset could be identical.

    D&D 5E (2014) Theory

No, I think this is a sign of the end times. All character race options will be replaced by furries. Duck will replace common as the most spoken language. A new Great Weapon Master feat tree will be introduced that applies all melee damage to hand crossbow attacks.

D&D 5E (2014) Thoughts on Halfling "Lucky" trait and the "Lucky" feat

Really? From levels 4-10 my halfling got to use that ability maybe six or seven times total. It saved my bacon once when I rolled a one against a medusas gaze but otherwise didn't seem that useful in the usual course of play.

D&D 5E (2014) Thoughts on Halfling "Lucky" trait and the "Lucky" feat

Lucky only procs 5% of the time and it only lets you roll again once. I struggle to see how that's overpowered. The Lucky feat? It partly depends how your DM runs it but on the whole, not overpowered. Occasionally it might save your characters life or save the day but if it does, that's fine...

    D&D 5E (2014) Precise Strike [Feat]

Elf bladesinger 2(or 6 for extra attack)/rogue x with the melee version of the feat would be pretty sweet. I have a feeling Blue is right though. Multiplicative feats or abilities are potentially unbalancing because they can stack with other existing multiplicative and flat bonuses. In addition...

D&D 5E (2014) How to deal with a Warlock gaining Detect Magic as a cantrip

Note that detect magic doesn't tell him how many auras he detects or how far away those magic auras are, just whether there is magic within 30ft (and what type it is if it's in plain sight). That means if any of his companions have magic items or have magic spells cast, the answer is always...

D&D 5E (2014) A freely-aligned NPC race who bind their elder's souls to constructs when they die - how would you do this?

I would just say "it happens because its magic". I wouldn't get bogged down in the underlying rules except to give it a flavor like "mechamancy" or "rune magic" or something similarly dwarven-flavored. Or make it a "ritual". Players let you get away with a lot if you say its a ritual. :)

    D&D 5E (2014) Nerfing Great Weapon Master

Don't feel obliged to be a "cool" DM if you don't like the feat. Just take it out.

D&D 5E (2014) How do players know they are in the "wrong" location in a sandbox campaign?

There are no wrong places in a sandbox campaign because players should be allowed to play the game the way they want to play it. No fate but what we make. FREEEDDOMMM! etc etc

D&D 5E (2014) DMs, what are the most baffling and/or pointless questions your players ask?

Possibly, I wasn't DM. I was too busy rolling around on the ground laughing. :) Was kinda short-lived though. If I remember correctly, just after this encounter we went ashore and experienced our first ever TPK. A single ogre attacked during the night and fluked a bunch of rolls, killed all of...

D&D 5E (2014) DMs, what are the most baffling and/or pointless questions your players ask?

Ha ha, you also reminded me. We were on a galleon. Halfling PC asks the DM "Will I die if I jump down from the crows nest?" DM says "You'll take 1d10 damage per 10ft fallen, so 3d10 damage" Player says "OK, I jump down" DM rolls damage "You take 23 points of damage" Player says "WHAT?! I...

    D&D 5E (2014) Can't decide whether to play a sorcerer, a wizard, or a druid.

Don't listen to Ancalagon. Think only about the damage you can output per round and how to optimise it. Then you'll know the class for you. :D

D&D 5E (2014) DMs, what are the most baffling and/or pointless questions your players ask?

"How many HP do I have?" I've never once had anyone ask that question in 25 years of playing DnD, until a couple of sessions ago.

    D&D 5E (2014) Tear-jerker moments in campaigns

In some ways, the emotional parts in RPGs are more memorable than books, songs or movies because they develop organically and sometimes you don't anticipate how affecting it's going to be. In a recent adventure the party encountered a crypt with the revenant of their former king, cursed into...

D&D 5E (2014) What Am I In For With This Party?

They have the bard with cutting word but yeah, unless the pally is tanky & sticky the roguelock is gonna get smashed. Not sure if the Immortal is a decent melee or not. This party kinda looks like something my group would put together. Magic-heavy, full offense, minimal healing. Pretty strong...

    D&D 5E (2014) The Int 8 Party: A Solution?

Oh I don't know about that. Does wonders for your self esteem probably. It's only when the wizard starts referring to the other PCs as his "henchmen" that you want to worry. :)
