DMs Guild DMs Guild: do you think it is okay to charge some people more than others?

Price drops happen. Honestly, on DMsGuild I'm not even sure anyone will notice, and somehow I sincerely doubt anyone would care.

D&D 5E (2014) How useful is the ritual 'Skywrite?'

Yeah, but now you're thinking about picking it up as treasure. I was talking about picking it up after leveling.

I think the D&D experience system has a lot to do with my players being murder hobos.

Stop giving XP for murder, only give XP for ranching. PLAY FARMVILLE! :p

D&D 5E (2014) How useful is the ritual 'Skywrite?'

Considering that Skywrite basically replaces local mass communications technology, I'd say it's pretty good, but you can usually do better when picking spells.

Prayer Wheel of the Penitent Rare, Requires attunement by a Monk This Prayer Wheel is carried on a penitent travelers back, and is kept spinning the air moving past the traveler as they walk. Though it seems quite light, when worn it weighs 200 pounds. As long as the Wheel is spinning, the...

    D&D 5E (2014) Magic Items for Monks!

I'm aware of all that, I assure you. It's not meant to be a cursed tattoo, it's meant to be helpful. Since Monks recover Ki on a short rest anyways, there's little point in those restrictions. The real reason for the tattoos drawback is so that Elemental Monks, who spend Ki like it's going out...

    D&D 5E (2014) Magic Items for Monks!

Ki-sight goggles Uncommon These goggles permit the wearer to see the life force flowing through living things, and the world itself. Using these, all living things and otherworldly entities become visible. In addition, the wearer knows how many Ki points, if any, a creature has remaining.

    D&D 5E (2014) Magic item attunement, like-dislike?

I think it works well for its' purpose. Primarily, anti-christmas tree defenses.

Monks aren't good at game design. :p

    D&D 5E (2014) Magic Items for Monks!

Then every second a monk lives they gain Ki from killing their own skin cells. Surviving the Dragon Tattoo becomes impossible permanently. No matter how much Ki gets burned off, there's always more. Creature is not a philosophical term. It's a game term for people who play games. Treating it as...

    D&D 5E (2014) Magic Items for Monks!

Given the DM control of 5E, it seems unlikely that a DM would do more than roll their eyes at killing a swarm and claiming that each member of the swarm counts as one.

    D&D 5E (2014) Magic Items for Monks!

Actually, a Paladin, particularly a MCed one, can probably dish out a damage of around 300 I mean, a 20th level pally can smite twice for 54 points of Radiant damage without even trying, and if they add a Banishing Smite spell on top, they get another 27.5 points of force damage. From there...

    D&D 5E (2014) Magic Items for Monks!

Yes. It's a Legendary magic tattoo for a reason. And an average of 291.5 damage is nothing compared to what Paladins are already capable of. Magic items make people better. The game isn't balanced around them anymore.

Or I could just change 'may' to 'must.' The force damage represents the body tearing itself apart uncontrollably. More blood and guts than lightshow.

The Tyrants Hand Artifact, requires attunement by a Lawful Evil character with the Extra Attack class feature This dark gauntlet draws the eyes of all who see it, inspiring terror and obeisance in all who see it. The gauntlet grants a 100 ft fear aura, with a DC based on the Wisdom score of...

    D&D 5E (2014) Magic Items for Monks!

I'd make it so getting more than one tattoo was inherently dangerous, and continued to place strain on a persons body afterwards. Con saves versus death, starting at DC 15 and increasing by 1 with each new tat, and after 3 tattoos the wearer would constantly have their Ki become unaligned...

Guan Dao of the stilled Moon Rare This carefully wrought wood, steel and mithral polearm (uses the stats of a glaive) is said to rest on the other side of a perfectly still pool of water outside the Ai-ya! monastery, appearing only on the night of the half moon. It can be wielded by anyone...
