The Elfish Gene - Another attack on gamers

Well if you'd asked me two days ago for my opinion of The Elvish Gene, I'd most likely have been non-commital. (And perhaps gone back to pondering the seven week-old mystery of why sales of my novel Game Night suddenly spiked sharply upwards on 1st November for no apparent reason). But having...

    layoffs?

That's not how it works in the UK. Over here, there are two ways that someone can lose their job: sacking and redundancy. Sacking is when you lose your job because you haven't been doing it properly. That can be anything from poor attendance to insubordination to gross incompetance. The...

    Dragonmeet: who's going?

No, thank you. Like I said at the time, I think that with the exception of a copy I signed for a friend, that might well be the first Slayers Guide I've ever actually signed (the first "in the wild" as it were). So it was really, really nice, and it was very cool that Jon Hodgson was there. (He...

    Dragonmeet: who's going?

Well it's good to get some replies; I was beginning to think that no-one else was coming! :) I'll be fairly easy to find: I'll be the guy wearing a Game Night t-shirt and a Santa Claus hat, and standing behind a Game Night stand.

    Dragonmeet: who's going?

Hi all, I'm going to be at Dragonmeet this Saturday, selling my book. I was wondering if any other UK based EN Worlders are planning on going? For those who don't know, Dragonmeet is a one-day convention on Saturday the 29th of November 2008 at Kensington Town Hall in London. Doors open at...

    Observations on Adventure Paths

Thank you! (As author for my bit, and as "publisher" for James's bit). :)

    Sell me a dice pouch!

If you just want plain velvet drawstring bags, jewelry supply shops usually do them pretty cheaply, in all sorts of colours.

    Observations on Adventure Paths

You could always burn it, although your players might not thank you. (Disclosure: I wrote the article that the latter link points to).

Game Night, by Jonny Nexus. You need to read it:)

Thanks! (Both for spreading the word, and for posting here to tell me). As an author, there's nothing better than people liking what you've written about. That is seriously cool. I love the idea of a character named after something I wrote wandering around the WoW world... killing people. It's...

Game Night, by Jonny Nexus. You need to read it:)

Well this is actually tomorrow and not tonight, but tonight's gone so tomorrow/today it is. I get asked quite a lot about when I'm going to do another issue of Critical Miss, and I'm afraid the answer is basically, sometime, but not now. At the moment, my current game plan is working towards...

Game Night, by Jonny Nexus. You need to read it:)

Damn, I think I've run out of stuff to palm you off with then. So what you're basically saying is, you've read everything I've ever written, and now you'd like some more, please. ;) Thinks... Did an offbeat short story you might like?

Good. I wish there were more people like you. :) Have you read my Slayers Guide to Games Masters, or the Jonny Nexus Compilation? If not, there's some information about them here: Planet Jonny - Various Mongoose PDFs Of Mine ...including links to free previews.

Game Night, by Jonny Nexus. You need to read it:)

Well that might not quite be a question, but there is an answer I can give to it anyway. :) But it's a bit long, so I'll do it tonight. Mind you, while I'm here, I'm afraid I can't help from asking the question I often ask at this point: have you bought/read a copy of Game Night yourself...

I'd just like to say that it was really fun to do the interview, and I thought Ross asked some really good questions, and I hope I was able to give answers worthy of those questions. Thanks!

Game Night, by Jonny Nexus. You need to read it:)

Well I spent quite a while working on its plot, so I've only just started writing it, but I'm currently on chapter four and it's going well. But it will be next year before it's out. (It's not a Game Night sequel by the way. It's a more general fantasy humour piece.)

    Game Night recomendation

Well obviously, I'd say it was good, because I'm the author. :) But I you can see a bunch of quotes (with links to the pages they come from) here and you can read a free PDF preview of Chapter One here. Oh, and thanks for mentioning the adverts. It's good to hear that people are noticing them.

Is that the recordings of sessions of Horror on the Orient Express and Masks of [thing I can't spell]? If so, I'd be quite interested in listening to the latter, as we spent about three years playing it. (I'd have to put the former away in a box, as I think we're just about to start playing...

Sounds interesting. Look forward to seeing it. Luckily, we only have to brave British public transport for about 35 minutes on the tube from Hounslow to Kensington High Street. :)

Well I'm sorry to hear you didn't like it. I'm pretty happy with the response I've got back from Game Night, in terms of feedback, reviews, and - of course - the ENnie nomination. But I'm not so naive as to belief that I could write a book that everyone could like. I know from my own, personal...

Yeah, we will. We've got a stall to sell Game Night, and I'm hoping to get on a panel. (I go to Dragonmeet every year, so even if I didn't have a stall, I'd still be there). Will you be there?
