Upcoming Releases. What Are You Really Looking Forward To?

Always lookin' to add to my stock o' books, I thought a thread on upcoming stuff would be cool. Right now, the stuff I'm looking forward to is just the obvious: 1) The new Delta Green d20 book. Why? So many people who say they love Delta Green and it is a classic. I've never read it and look...

Legends of... ummm... Help me name my campaign?

I agree. This is the one that caught my attention. It sounds good and it isn't limiting in any way.

Job Opening at WotC - Apply for Mike Mearls old job

Whoever gets the job.....I just want you to know I posted in this thread. I was with you at the beginning. Yes, me. It was I. I was here when it all started. I think that should be good for a free book or two :). Oh, and I support you 100%.

    griping and complaining

Hey, you shut the heck up. I'll bitch and complain until the cows come home and who are you to.... Just kiddin'. A thread titled "griping and complaining" was just begging for it. "Hey you....who you lookin' at....you want some?" etc...etc...

WotC Replies: Statements by WotC employees regarding Dragon/Dungeon going online

I agree with this. And the response from Wizards is appreciated. It probably would have prevented a lot of the negative responses if this would have come out yesterday, but, again, thanks Wizards for posting it. I look forward to seeing their on-line offerings.

Open Game License. Should Someone Start a New One?

Correct, not "Everyone" is mad at Wizards. And by "mad", yes, I was referring to the dropping of Dragon and Dungeon at print magazines. I, myself, aren't particularly mad at them. Just more annoyed than anything that they didn't prep everyone for the big change and didn't give us more info about...

Why Wizards Has Lost Touch w/ Its Base

Tongue in cheek aside, look at Paizo. Their guys spent some serious time yesterday--both here and on their boards--answering everyone's questions and showing us they care. I have huge respect for them. They must have had serious finger cramping by the end of the day. Wizards has serious...

Open Game License. Should Someone Start a New One?

Everyone is pretty mad a Wizards right now. That might or might not pass. Of course everything ties back to them because they own the D&D name, rights, licenses etc.. But what about the OGL model? Has is been successful? Do you think Wizards will continue with it into 4e? And the bigger...

Pathfinder 1E Paizo no longer publishing Dungeon and Dragon

Well, I just looked at the "Delta Green d20 is Coming!" thread again and it made me feel better. http://www.enworld.org/showthread.php?t=190798 Truthfully, I've been into 3rd party stuff heavily for the last year or so anyway. Yes, it's a blow--I've been reading stuff off of the Dragon Comp...

Pathfinder 1E Paizo no longer publishing Dungeon and Dragon

I just subscribed to Dungeon a month ago. Darn. I haven't even gotten the first one yet. I just chose the Pathfinder option. If I could get another Pathfinder with my credit (4 instead of 3), I'd probably choose to not even get the last few Dungeons. I was thinkin' I could get in on the next...

    Why Worldbuilding is Bad

In his mind, "world building" means you actually have to come up with all the details of a world? Apparently so, as it would constitute the "biggest library ever built". And I don't even understand the next part: "This gives us a clue to the psychological type of the worldbuilder...and makes...

    Why Worldbuilding is Bad

Remember, this is coming from a professional novelist. Here are a few things to keep in mind. 1) If a professional writer spends too much time on "world building", he produces and publishes a book every ten years instead of every year. Unless that ten year book is fabulous, he doesn't have...

Planescape, Oathbound, Star Trek? Kingdom Hearts?

Let me simplify (and maybe change) the question: HOW DO YOU CREATE A UNIQUE, BUT INCLUSIVE SETTING? I think the key is the "justification for why disparate realities are bleeding together". I think, like Ripzerai said, it is easy to come up with reasons. However, it isn't easy to come up a...

Planescape, Oathbound, Star Trek? Kingdom Hearts?

This is a really good topic...and one I'm going to have to think about more. I think that some of the universality of the settings you've mentioned has to do with our already established cultural ideas related to 1) the afterlife i.e. Planescape (because, hey, everybody, regardless of...

    Mechamancy...Explain It to Me.

Good points. And you're right--as mentioned, they wouldn't be any different. I just came up with these items off the top of my head that seemed like they would be good "craftology" items. But, of course, the coolness--is that a word?--would be in the specifics of creation. Regular items would be...
