Good hits and bad misses I use a set of charts for Crits and Fumbles from old Dragon article. But a nat 1, followed by nat 1 is a Fumble. d100 on a large chart that is mostly drop weapon or slip and fall, maybe wound self or friend if you roll high enough. (I let them roll on the charts)...

Too, if you take one level of Monk, you get ImUnStrike and bonus feat... combat reflexes. That can replace selecting CR and the need for Short Haft. Lose a BAB, but all saves get +2, not all bad.

Never travel by water. The Dm will attack you and you have nowhere to run. If you wear armor, you will fall in the water and have to choose between drowning or dumping your (magic) armor.

I've been itch'n for a Dwarven Paladin since 2e, as soon as i had a DM in 3... oh yeah, first guy i made was that dream paladin... his dumb stat was Int so he had a trace of The Tick in him... :p He died heroicly fighting Shadows at a mere 4th level :(

IME, when i DM'd 1e/2e nobody wanted to be human, everyone wanted a race with Infravison to see in the dark. So if you didn't want a stat adjustment, the popular race was 1/2 elf... "humans with infravision" you might say. Heck, i even house ruled that humans got +10% xp AND +1 to ANY one...
