    Perverse Incentives

It would be fun, but you'd need a massive deck full of creative ideas to keep it from getting boring after a few sessions.

A Dozen Crossbows Aimed at You ..

If it's a random watch patrol of 1st- and 2nd-level warriors, with maybe a Ftr3 for a captain, they're gonna get creamed. Oh, sure, if the PC doesn't have on his armor or anything, and has to rely on just his Dex bonus and his trusty Ring of Protection, that AC of 15 will see him eat more than a...

stonegod's Expedition to Castle Ravenloft: Ch. I [OOC]

Selase is basically finished except for equipment. I'll try to have her up tonight.

stonegod's Expedition to Castle Ravenloft: Ch. I [OOC]

I wasn't sure how to handle that; my idea was that Selase would have originally been LN, and as a follower of Vol, channeled negative energy, and then retained the ability even though she became LG. Healing would be handled with a combination of the Spontaneous Healer feat, and Craft Wand or...

    Tumble House Rules?

I used that rule for a while, and it did slow down gameplay a little, but more importantly it seemed to be a huge nerf to Tumble. A DC of 10 + BAB (or some such) is IMO more reasonable, because it means that high-level Tumble checks aren't trivial, but still lets the skill be useful.

    Reworking Fortification

I also like +AC against confirmations and -dice. Alternately, it could be +AC against sneak attacks also, by which I mean that normal damage is dealt if you hit their normal AC, but you don't deal sneak attack damage unless the attack roll beats the boosted AC.

Do players really care for the campaign setting?

I really appreciate it when the game world feels complete and consistent. I also enjoy a game more when it's in a setting I like, and a little less in a setting I find dumb, but as long as I know enough about the world to not feel like an outsider or someone who just woke up with head trauma...

Has there ever been rules forbidding ranged attacks during Rage?

A barbarian's rage is not all-consuming, rabid bloodlust. That's what the Frenzied Berserker is for. Rage is simply becoming very angry - which, although it does tend to impair judgement and rationality, does not altogether preclude intelligent thought.

    Why aren't potions labeled?

Alchemists are a spiteful lot; they're personally able to easily identify their own potions by color, consistency, smell, etc. And they figure that if somebody kills them and takes their potions, they deserve to have their life made a little harder. :P

stonegod's Expedition to Castle Ravenloft [Recruiting Closed]

Selase Kolandra Background: Selase has always been a very spiritual person and very devoted to her faith, the Blood of Vol. When she was old enough, she felt a strong desire to spread the truth of the Divinity Within, and so underwent a cleric's training. Only those who demonstrate that they...

    [d20 Future] Mecha Power Cores

This all looks really cool. The only criticism I can think of is on the Fusion-Fission Combined Reactor. Neat idea, but unfortunately, conservation of energy means it's totally impossible. Fissioning lighter elements like helium requires more energy than it puts out, and converting hydrogen to...

Sorry to those I game with...

Hello, everyone, Doomhawk here. Some things have just come up which are going to mean I'll have much less free time for quite a while. I'm going to have to withdraw from the play-by-post games I'm in. Thanks to Starman, DEFCON 1, nonamazing, and all the players in the games run by the...

Traipsing Across Khorvaire - High Adventure in Eberron

"I doubt goblins would be convinced by anything else, unfortunately. Trying to speak to them would be useless; there's nothing we can do to convince them to leave their spoils peacefully."

    [Eberron] Beneath the Ice!

Toshanharath looks up, seeing another flight of the ice birds he had seen earlier. I wonder if these birds might be related to this creature somehow. He didn't mean it that way, but the sudden thought of the creature before him having blood relations to a flock of birds forces him to suppress a...

Traipsing Across Khorvaire - High Adventure in Eberron

Telinor raises a finger to his lips, signaling for silence and gesturing over his shoulder in the direction of the goblins. He will wait until the goblins go away before he speaks. "Thank you, Silver. I was being foolish. Still, I think it is our responsibility to drive these goblins away; so we...

    [Eberron] Beneath the Ice!

Toshanharath shakes his head vigorously. "Flamesaxe, you would be nothing but dead weight if we had done that, and you said yourself that name was nothing but an insult. You may not think much of yourself, but I guarantee you someone out there still believes in you." If I could be forgiven of...

    [Eberron] Beneath the Ice!

Barandurr's sudden display of divine power surprises Toshanharath, who had written off the dwarf as little more than a drunkard. He chastises himself for being so judgemental of others, but expecting them to see past his own faults. "That was impressive, Barandurr. Your faith has saved a living...
