    WoW is becoming DDM

ainatan Dont' really care what people prefer....everyone has their own preference. I scoff at the notion that those miniatures are actually high quality... I know it takes more time...but I'd certainly rather paint 10000x nicer models and spend some time/effort than buy crap that I've seen 10...

    WoW is becoming DDM

haha "The quality level of this product is unprecedented in the collectible miniatures category," said 20-year-veteran miniatures painter Mike McVey. "This is a product I am happy to put my name behind." --- HAHHAA that's funny. THose miniatures look like crap. Yes, they are prepainted, but...

Will you try the new "Death & Dying" rules now?

yes, but with changes We'll start using it however, healing from negatives will still keep you in negatives until you reach 0. We prefer that, and it makes more sense due to our custom healing/critical hit rules, etc. Sanjay

D&D 4E How would you handle the basic stat conception in 4E?

uhm I think stats like 13 or 14 would be more olympic level, where 17+ is well beyond anything a human in the real world could do. (except for like, the World's Strongest Man competitors). Sanjay

    The Vorpal blade

i must have a very different group of players they like unpredictable combat results...they want it as chaotic and close to real life as possible (where anything can and does happen). the moto of our combats... AD&D = accidental death & dismemberment...aka "A Sanjay Campaign" I use the...

Falling Damage - Anyone else hopes falling hurts just a little bit more?

falling I am all for adding realism and depth to games but... even in real life, there are videos of sky divers who have chute issues, etc and live after falling 1000s of feet. The example of the guy who fell 500 is another. I think the key is that it's super rare. Religious people say god...

"Just House Rule It" and the New DM

oh Oh I agree I understand now with all my complaining, much of the stuff I dont like in 4E is due to the quite different dynamics I find in my players and myself, compared to the average group :) Sanjay

"Just House Rule It" and the New DM

CadFan Hi Cadfan, I must say I disagree with the statement. Even when we started playing D&D back in 1991 or 1992 (whichever), there were stuff that immediately popped to mind. Some of it we used house rules, most we didn't and over time, we slowly changed things that we wanted. The reason we...

"Just House Rule It" and the New DM

my thoughts Let me try and fill in some reasons, i think, for house ruling. I've been thinking alot recently about the aspects of 4E that I like, and the stuff I don;'t like (either due to prior editions or decisions that just don't like/make sense but may be better for the majority, etc). To...

The Devil's in the Details: Slavicsek reveals the Pit Fiend in all its glory

... Sammael - my sentiments exactly.. Even with the heavily customized planar beings I used now (anything from 2e and 3e), this pit fiend doesn't fit anything in how I use the hells. I feel sad right now. with all the house rules friends and I are discussing for 4E (since we have lots now...

Magic Item Limits, Slots, Requirements and Stacking

You are not minority My entire group prefers the freeform way we handle items. basically, any type of item can exist...but they are very rare and you can't buy magic items except in special cities such as Sigil. However, we have very weird custom items, almost always...so 4E's system i find...

Things that are Easy to change vs. things that are Hard to change

experience BISHMON - it comes down to experience in the end. I customize so much stuff for players, that I find it quite easy now for most stuff. Even changed rules and customized on the spot. Works fine. But it really is down to experience and what you are used to. From Dming back in 2E...

    D&D 4E First Impressions of 4E / Predictions on 5E

... "Cool! A thread that compares 4E to WoW, and mentions 5E! What more could one ask for?" -- FifthElement --- What else? I say we start guessing on changes in 6th Edition, in around 2021 :D Who is with me? :) i say dice will be gone and the system will move to whatever you want to...

Things that are Easy to change vs. things that are Hard to change

my list From my experience on our house rules for 3.5E that we will be using in 4E as well: Easy: * critical hit system * magic item changes (hell, give as many items and even give them for 'body parts' that hte game system doesnt define if you like; as long as you are ok to live with what...

D&D 4E Eliminating magic items in 4e completely

issue i see The issue i see, a fantasy game, people (me included) would want the possibility of doing truly fantastic things. Otherwise I'd DM D20 modern or something :) Such fantastic things just ain't happening without magic, artifacts, magic items, etc. Sanjay

D&D 4E How should 4E deal with the power of fire?

hous rules I ended up house ruling item saves with a combination of 3.5E and 1e/2e versions. I found it worked out the best; still had tension, but also added the realistic flavour my players like. (realistic in that, items can break, get blown apart, melt, etc and it does happen in large...

    D&D 4E 4E: DM-proofing the game

and the drumrole please... The biggest things on your list will probably house ruled/modified via experienced DMs for what effect they want within a day of 4E release anyways :) Sanjay

Should rings be able to function for low level characters?

calm down I think this change is ok, for the sole reason that it's easily rectified. Any experienced DM, I am sure, modifies items, makes up their own, and says screw it to the rules for item creation, etc and does what they want for the enjoyment of the game and players. If we want to give...
