    The Lego Movie

Janx Ah, I misunderstood your post. I thought you were naming examples of movies who portrayed rich people but weren't anti-capitalistic. I don't really see either Die Hard or 101 Dalmatians as anti-capitalistic per se (despite having rich people as villains etc), but Robocop definitely is...

    The Best National Flag

Kinda. It's the sunset over Greenland: the circle is the setting sun, the white is the icey landscape, and the red is the sunset's light reflecting in the sea. Although the real (political) reason for the red is a nod to Denmark (it's the same shade of red as the danish flag). That flag btw...

    The Best National Flag

But... they don't have much actual green. And the Greenlanders don't call themselves Greenlanders (they call themselves Kalaallit), or their country Greenland (Kalaallit Nunaat, "land of the Kalaallit"). The whole Greenland thing was a PR move by an Icelandic exile who wanted company.

    The Lego Movie

The Lego Movie is the movie I'm most looking forward to this spring. It looks like a blast! One of these does not seem like the others...

    Narrate This 3 HP Hit

While it largely will depend on the surrounding fiction/narration, I'd probably narrate it as the arrow hitting and hurting--leaving a bruise--but failing to pierce the chainmail.

How do you handle Experience Points?

I used to just level up on a whim, but my current group responds quite strongly to XP in a way that previous groups have not, so we used 4e's XP system as-is (with bonus XP for finishing quests or meeting goals). I'm not that fond of the standard D&D XP system, though. I don't really like...

    [February] What are you reading?

I'm about 2/3rd of the way through Grave Peril by Jim Butcher, which is the third book in the Dresden Files. So far, these have gotten better with each book.

    Popular culture vs. niche culture

Yeah, I would expect most people to know who Lex Luthor is. But everyone has gaping holes in their popular knowledge--it's not what everybody knows, but what is common that people know. You just miss things. You either filter it out because of disinterest, or you were randomly never exposed...

    Affairs

I've never cheated, nor have I been cheated on (that I know of, anyway), but I have been cheated with once years ago; been one of those "other men". And when I found out she was married (which became quite apparent once I followed her into her home--their home), I went for it anyway, and...

    playing devil's advocate

I often do and usually in an attempt to understand people's point of views properly, which can be agonizing to get out of people clearly (despite them announcing their opinions loudly). Although I used to do it more than I do nowadays--I've just gotten a little tired of partaking in internet...

    Your travel plans 2014

I'm going on my honeymoon to Barcelona start of June. Yay! Haven't been abroad since 2008. I can't wait!

Rules heavy = bad; light = good

I guess I'm a rules-medium guy. I used to think of my preferences as rules-lite, but I keep bumping into people finding my ideas of rules-light to be too rule heavy. There are a lot more rules-light games around now than when my perception of the scale was formed in the 90s, where the rare...

    What are you eating?

Just ate a bread roll with cheese and a plate of bacon for breakfast, downed with two glasses of orange juice. This is a very common breakfast for me when I have an early shift.

    Hermion should have married Harry

Personally, I easily see Hermione choosing Ron over Harry--if only because Ron showed interest while Harry didn't--I just don't see her ending up with him for life. As a high school boyfriend, sure.

Are we, as a wider community, nasty?

My perception is that people behave pretty much the same in interest-based-groups whatever the interest may be (recent anecdotal data comes from discussion on atheism, feminism, poetry, computers, information science, immigration policy and university ethics). Status, education, location and...

    Do You Name Your Car?

Don't know if it helps at all but 'ð' is sometimes written as 'dh' in English (but with a very soft 'd'). Þ is always at the start of a word while ð is always towards the end. It's like þ hitting the brakes.

So what is Guardians of the Galaxy all about?

    I think it's pretty awesome, despite it's Avengers-like problems.

    Do You Name Your Car?

I don't own a car currently, but I used to own a brown-orange Kia I called variously Kíja (slight pronunciation change so it sounded like a normal Icelandic female name) or The Brown Thunder. Before that I owned a small Opel I always called Druslan ("drusla" is a term used for piece of junk...
