1st-level characters in the Tomb of Horrors

No, I wrote that part of my post before reading that far.

1st-level characters in the Tomb of Horrors

Why the crap does this seem to happen every time the ToH is brought up? I swear to God, gamers have more myths and misconceptions than gun nuts. A Desert Eagle/12 gauge pistol will break your wrist if you fire it one handed. The ToH has lots of no-save traps. Those are supposed to be arrows...

Would you be satisifed with d20 as your only RPG? [Ties into RyanD's blog entry.]

Oh, god no. I would miss my GURPS Call of Cthulhu game terribly. D&D is fun, but for anything but D&D, I want something much more realistic.

    Turning Undead is Counter-Productive

Handful? They get ALL THE SPELLS on their list. Wizards and Sorcerors, heck, even Bards can't touch that.

How easy is it to SELL magic items in your game?

Same here. Selling is boring. My PCs haven't gotten high enough level to have this problem and even then, they could use continent-wide Guild or church connections to spread the word they wanted to sell an item. The Guild would probably buy it and be able to sell it to someone, somewhere. Same...

What Would Your Campaign/Setting's Inspirational Reading List Be?

My CoC game's list would include the TV shows Supernatural and Night Stalker. And perhaps the movie Prince of Darkness. edit: Eris404: Look up Mark Frost. He has written a couple of pulp-horror books starring 24 year old Dr. Arthur Conan Doyle set in late 19th century London.

Weapons you wished you'd see sometimes.

I guess using weapons isn't a part of wisdom?

    Homebrew culture problem

As long as the "Elves" don't live in trees or claim to love Nature or practice druidic magic and the others don't live underground, have beards...

Need some Details on the original White Plume Mountain [spoilerfest]

That's a ridiculous TPK. Or, gee, they could have used a rope of climbing. Or traded off two pairs of Slippers of Spiderclimbing. Or cast Levitate and pulled themselves along the walls or ceiling. Or used a climber's kit and rope. I have no idea why people don't buy more than 50' of rope...

Which class is the most useless?

Unless your DM is being an ass and using custom reincarnate tables, then in 3.5 you can't be turned into small fluffy animals. In 3.0, you had a far greater chance of being turned into a humanoid, a fey, or larger, more combative animal (wolf, wolverine, etc.).

What makes a Monty Haul Game?

Otherwise known as the Lady and the Tiger dilemma. Well, with Monte-dickery added in.

    What ruins a campaign?

Could you describe in more detail what happened? Did the PCs want blood after one death and wouldn't leave? And it's not ridiculous. I mean, yes, it's CR 10. They tell you why the creature is there, though.

Going to church? Don't forget your sawed-off shotgun!

Heavily armed? Well, I guess it's more powerful compared to what most everyone else will be packing--.32 ACP or S&W Long and .38 Special revolverss, maybe a .44 Special revover or .45 ACP automatic. Personally I'd go for two .455 Webleys. Not at once, just one as backup. But a sawed off...

    What ruins a campaign?

I've heard of Rolemaster before, but I had no idea if that was what you meant. That's freakin' crazy.

Weapons you wished you'd see sometimes.

It's a note in the back of the 1e DMG. If it ISN'T so, then explain to me why the weapon weights are so off.

    What ruins a campaign?

You're gonna have to elaborate on what "Arms Law" is.

Going to church? Don't forget your sawed-off shotgun!

Well, first of all, an unloaded gun isn't much use. And second of all, not everyone is okay with dying in church. As convenient as it is.

Weapons you wished you'd see sometimes.

Weight is not weight in D&D. Weight represents weight and relative bulkiness. Which is why 10' poles weigh 8 pounds.

A *Really* High Powered D&D Game. Would you play in it? How can I up the power ante?

    1. It depends on what we're doing. If you're going to railroad the party and have so many house rules you eventually change the entire game system itself, and continue playing for as long as you have players, past 30th level, like one game at my university game club...no. If you're a decent DM...
