D&D 5E (2014) PCs Making Their Own Magic Items

I think that's what quests often are: going to find info and stuff. Oddly, I can't disagree with this. I'd xp you, but I can't. Vividly agree. One way to do this would be to make recipes uncopyable: they were written in such a detailed manner, that copying them always results in a defect. That...

    "Ignore Cover"?

I can't report this as spam for some reason. Will someone else?

Skill Combat - quick combat resolution

Sorry about the necro, but this was the best thread I found, and I'm sure folks have thought about this before, so I wanted their feedback on the idea. I'm looking for a way to resolve trivial combats VERY fast at high paragon and epic levels. Something involving very few rounds of die rolls. I...

    D&D 5E (2014) Let's Talk about Scaling 5th Edition Spells

Non-combat magic I relegate to rituals, which have their own design space. Casters get an allotment of "free" components every day, and these increase with level. Otherwise, everyone has access to rituals related to the skills they are trained in. That's easy, and doesn't really need scaling...

    D&D 5E (2014) 5E Character Advancement

The "alternative" OD&D rule that we used to use. This is the only way I'd roll for HP. Otherwise, rolling low has too great an impact. Even like this, it arguably might.

    D&D 4E 4e/5e hybrid...

OP's solutions are easy to implement, which is a huge advantage. I'm giving my feedback ignoring this particular advantage, just presenting my thoughts on how I'd like the game to be, just in case Next designers are reading. I think reducing HP (and the damage of high-damage attacks) is a good...

D&D 4E Healing and combat tension between 4e and Next

I have to admit, I really like OP's combat dynamic. I understand that simplifying things is a big part of Next, but I see the fights becoming boring for me, not just because of the dynamic, but also tactically. The biggest complexity I think was adding a variety of durations to different...

    "Ignore Cover"?

That seems pretty fair to me.

D&D 4E Next Backgrounds in 4e [Suggestions Needed]

Agree completely. I was sorely disappointed with seeing themes give further support to the tactical part of the game, when the exploration and social part of the game are in such dire need of support.

    "Ignore Cover"?

If it doesn't explicitly say (and many do), I'd be inclined to rule the same way, even though my reading of RAW would include superior cover within the notion of cover. I'd have to see the class and build to give a more specific opinion. For example, if it's a well-built bow ranger, I would...

    "Ignore Cover"?

I would say that superior cover is more like the cover offered by a wall that comes up to your shoulders (leaving your head exposed) or an arrow slit. Someone that is behind a closed door simply cannot be normally targeted. There is no penalty. There simply is no line of effect.

    Pathfinder conversions P.E.A.C.H.

Why require both Death Rattle and Trox in both of these? What's the harm of letting someone who manages to take the power take the skills? Consider eliminating the Trox requirement. This may yield overpowered results at higher levels if the ranger can quarry multiple enemies, but I'm not sure. A...

    Pathfinder conversions P.E.A.C.H.

The carapace could easily give it resist 2 at paragon or resist 5 at epic. You could also give it a poison spittle or sting. Climb speed is another idea. I would look at the thri-keen feats for inspiration, but you don't want to make it too similar.

    Runepriest Info ?

I know I'm straying from the topic here, but my feeling was that their racial power kinda made up for the lack of support: it's truly fantastic to regenerate, especially if you manage to keep your defenses high (and therefore have a round or two of being missed to regenerate during combat).

    Help me build a warpriest.

    This is excellent advice.

    Runepriest Info ?

I find classes in 4e quite balanced, and even criticized classes like the runepriest look fun. So take the remainder of my post with a grain of salt. The common criticism, which I agree with, is that the latter former is a trap. Runic feats encourage an "in for a penny, in for a pound" attitude...

    Pathfinder conversions P.E.A.C.H.

Looks good. Maybe build-in a range increase for the racial power at level 11 or 21 to close burst 5. Also, you're missing languages. I suggest: Languages: Common, Thri-kreen

    Pathfinder conversions P.E.A.C.H.

I agree completely, but come to the opposite conclusion. Because the enemies that most dramatically suffer must be exactly 5 squares away, I think it's okay to reward tactical positioning that allows a player to do this. However, I do think that the feat turning the power into a burst 10 is...

D&D 4E Versatile Duelist and Weapon Finesse

I don't think so. Versatile Duelist's benefits seem to be written well enough to avoid this problem. Even if you can wield it two-handed, the longsword is still classified as a one-handed heavy blade, so it triggers the benefits described in the feat.
