    Beserk adaption? ravenloft?

    You need Iron Heroes.

Best game for God of War-esque action?

I'd definitely go with BESM. Exalted combat can be slow and the system is really tied to the setting.

How much combat features/d in your AD&D (1e) games?

About 40%, though I would have preferred if that percentage was lower. Back then, combat was not only boring but also dangerous! I enjoyed exploration and roleplaying a lot more. It was just safer.

    Chinese inspried monsters

Good idea with the Wikipedia! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinese_Mythology Scroll down and look at the mythical creatures section.

    Chinese inspried monsters

In regards to d20 supplements, Jade Dragons and Hungry Ghosts, a monster book by Green Ronin, contains quite a few chinese creatures. Unfortunately, it is a 3.0E book. There's also quite a few monsters in Dragon Fist that you can adapt, but the system is an AD&D variant. For more literary...

    Mearls on Balance in D&D

There is merit to what T. Foster is saying. Killing monsters in previous editions was never as rewarding in experience as finding and hauling off treasure. Combat was also not as interesting as it is now.

    Aria RPG

I don't know. Aria was okay, but Patricia C. Wraede's Worldbuilding Questions and the MythoPoet Manual pretty much covered the same topics but were so much more comprehensible. Heck, someone even converted the Interactive History rules to FUDGE. So if I were you, I would check out those first.

    Races for an African-style campaign?

I would have recommended finding a copy of Dragon #202 and reading the Races of Mythic Africa article written by Michael John Wybo II (who wrote several other articles detailing the warriors, priests, wizards, and deities of Africa) within, but a lot of ideas written in that article were already...

Could this be the future format of 4th Edition D&D?

IMO, I think the bookkeeping and prepwork people are in the minority. I believe it's better to not cater to them then to require everyone else to use software.

    Who else dosn't like clerics?

Clerics are cool, but the character class doesn't really suit all religious orders. I'm thinking of using a slightly tweeked mystic to represent less martial orders for my Realms game.

D&D 4E What would you like 4E to look like.

Pared down improved rules and an adventure path in one or two volumes.

    Suggestions for Role Play Module

I third The Prince of Redhand. I think the setup can be adapted to scenarios of your own creation as well.

The shared experience of D&D adventures

I used to avoid using prepared adventure material but then I realized that by using it, I would improve my enjoyment of the game by both easing preperation and being able to share and compare experiences with other people. So far, doing so has been very enjoyable. So I definitely agree that...

Could this be the future format of 4th Edition D&D?

While I agree that making D&D "fresh" and "easy to learn" is possible without gimmicks, packaging rules, miniatures/counters, board pieces, record cards, dice, and an adventure path in one box is just more convenient for new and casual players. Still, if D&D did not go the "gameboard"-esque...

    No Second Edition Love?

As if roleplaying only springs from narration and simulation and not actual gameplay!

    No Second Edition Love?

The shift from experience points for recovery gold/treasure to adhoc story awards, the nonsense fluff about accepting subpar characters in the PHB, disavowing super characters in the DMG, arguing against magic shops in the HLC supplement, the habitat, society, and ecology entries in the MM, the...

    No Second Edition Love?

I find 2E unforgiveable for the same reason I find most RPGs unforgiveable and not worth my time: emphasis on pointless simulation and narration and not enough focus on actual game.

    Meta-Mechanics Worth Stealing

"Group Keys"? That's a really cool idea! Why couldn't I have thought of it? :D

So when should a publisher ditch d20 and develop their own system?

Except the G is shoddily implemented. For starters, most tabletop RPGs don't even have victory conditions.
